I’m ex-Amish and was taught a unique method for cleaning windows – it worked and doesn’t leave fuzzies on the glass
AN ex-Amish woman has given her two cents on how to keep windows shiny and spotless.
She said her tried-and-true cleaning tip won’t leave a fuzzy residue on the glass.
Luanna Knepp (@luann.knepp) filmed herself relaying the advice in a video on TikTok.
She gave some insight on Amish cleaning methods she learned along the way.
“The Amish use our community used regular cleaning products,” she said.
“Except that one of the ladies I used to help get ready for church, she always washed her windows with vinegar and newspapers.
“We dried it with newspaper, and it worked,” she added.
However, she said one part of the process wasn’t particularly enjoyable for her.
“I didn’t like [the newspaper] because it was a little harder to work with, but vinegar and newspaper, my friends, for windows,” she said.
The video drew in several viewers who shared their two cents in the comment section.
“Vinegar and newspaper is the best,” one wrote. “The newspaper doesn’t leave little fuzzies like paper towels.”
“That’s true,” Knepp replied. “It doesn’t leave fuzzies.”
“My mother taught us to use newspapers. That’s cool,” another added. “The chemicals in the paper help prevent streaks. Old school.”
“Amish keep their windows crystal clear clean all year round. It’s a beautiful thing. And yes, the children all learn to help clean at a young age,” a third commented.
“I used to clean homes and that it exactly how I used to do the windows. It works great,” yet another wrote.
“My father used vinegar and newspaper, too. We also lived near an Amish community. I wonder if thats where he got it from,” one more said.
