My parents disowned me for my ex – they won’t meet my new ‘manipulative’ fiancée, it’s like I’m no longer their kid
A MAN has revealed how his own mum chose his ex over him because she “hates” his new fiancée.
Ryan, who is 27, says his mother Gayle thinks her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Hannah, is manipulative, immoral and disrespectful -despite the fact she’s never even met her.
“My mum hates Hannah with a passion she’s never even met her I don’t even think she wants to,” he explains, speaking on US talk show, Dr Phil.
“My parents definitely chose my ex over me.”
But Gayle and her husband have a rather different version of events and is convinced her son is with the “wrong girl.”
“When Ryan broke up with his ex, it broke my heart,” she admits. “His actions were so erratic that maybe he has a chemical imbalance.”
Gayle goes on to say that Ryan, who says he ended the relationship with his ex because he “truly didn’t love her,” gave her an ultimatum and said that if she doesn’t accept Hannah then he wants nothing to do with her.

“My mum called me and said, ‘come get all your stuff it’s in the garage,” he recalls.
“My mum was throwing out all my trophies, my photo albums from when I was a kid, my first haircut. I just couldn’t believe it.”
Gayle admits she did so because she didn’t want Ryan to have an excuse to come into her home.
Now, it’s been three years since the pair have spoken.
“As long as I have nothing to do with her, he’ll have nothing to do with me,” she insists. “That was his choice, not mine.
“When I drive down the road, he makes a point to ignore me.”
While Ryan insists he “loves” Hannah and that she’s the “perfect girl” for him, Gayle tells Dr Phil why she’s so against the relationship – admitting it’s both on moral and religious grounds.
“Hannah and her ex-boyfriend were good friends with Ryan and his ex-fiancée,” she explains.
“One of the Ten Commandments says, “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, or oxen, or manservant, or maid servant, or anyone else that is thy neighbour’s.”
Gayle, who insists she’s “not a controlling person,” then asks: “Isn’t a friend even closer than a neighbour? You don’t always know your neighbours but you do know your friends.
“And what kind of example is he setting to his daughter to say, ‘Oh, you know, so much for my friend, I want the girl!'”
“Wait a minute, you don’t get to rewrite the scripture to fit what you want at the time,” Dr Phil says.
He then goes on to point out Hannah wasn’t previously married to Ryan’s friend and that the pair dated when they were 17 – adding that Ryan and Hannah got together four months after they split.
Gayle acts like a major bully even in high school. I’ve never witnessed anybody acting like this; it’s very immature. Ryan’s parents have never met me; they worship his ex and they think that she’s God.

Hitting back, Gayle snaps: “Why does he have to take his friend’s leftovers? They’re not good friends anymore. Why is that?”
Hannah – the girl caught in the middle – also has her say and insists that Ryan’s mum “tries to dictate who Ryan dates.”
“Gayle acts like a major bully even in high school,” Hannah claims. “I’ve never witnessed anybody acting like this; it’s very immature.
“Ryan’s parents have never met me; they worship his ex and they think that she’s God.”
Hannah, who wants Ryan’s parents to know that he is not going back to his ex, claims the pair have tried numerous times for his parents to accept her.
“I have personally sent Christmas cards, birthday invitations, sent Christmas gifts, and all Gail does is just blow it off,” she claims.
“I get the nastiest looks from Ryan’s parents; they treat me as if I’m trash and I should not be around.
“I feel I deserve respect from Ryan’s parents. I am his fiancée and I’m here to stay.”
Dr Phil recalls how Gayle told Ryan she wouldn’t “throw his ex aside” because she has been thrown aside her whole life.
However, he continues: “But then you said that you told Ryan that if he was with a decent girl that you wouldn’t invite his ex over.”
Gayle snaps back: “Not at the same time. Why would I say to his ex, ‘you’re out of our lives now?’ She’s done nothing to us, and that is the mother of his granddaughter.”
Speaking to her future mother-in-law, a fed up Hannah replies: “They weren’t married. I understand three years ago if you wanted to be acquaintances with her, that’s fine.
“I’ve tried numerous times to get along with her, but after all of the drama I have been through in my life because of her and because you facilitated it, I’m done.
“I’m not dealing with it, and I’m sure Ryan’s over it.”
An unimpressed Gayle concludes by telling Ryan: “You’re making me out to be this manipulative mum that picks all your girlfriends.
“I never picked your girlfriend. I never, ever picked your girlfriend…I’m not a meddling mother-in-law type of person, I’m not.”
