‘Who’s the real loser here?’ DIY whizz hits back at trolls that say her IKEA hacks will ’cause mould’ and ‘look cheap’
A DIY whizz who went viral for her nifty IKEA hacks has exposed the frequent comments she receives from trolls.
Kayla Reynolds is an expert in affordable home renovations, even saving a whopping £6,000 by using IKEA Pax to create a bespoke dressing room.
She has helped thousands of Brits curate their dream homes with her money-saving DIY hacks and tutorials.
But with big attention comes a bigger risk of trolling.
Kayla, from the Midlands, has been told her designs will “cause mould” and “look cheap” by armchair critics on Instagram.
In a recent video on her account @reynoldsresidence, she shared some of the negative comments she typically receives after posting a money-saving idea on social media.
“That’s one way to get mold [sic] behind the wardrobe,” one troll claimed.
“Zero air circulation.”
“So obviously IKEA,” another penned.
“Not fooling anyone and it looks cheap.”
“It looks good on here but I doubt the quality is up to much,” a third said.
Other critics even claim that her tutorials aren’t hacks, so Kayla decided to set the record straight.
“Never let trolls or negative comments get you down,” she wrote in the caption of the video.
“If anything, just rest safe in the knowledge that their comments are helping your engagement.
“So, who’s the real loser here?
“And for anyone who thinks IKEA hacks aren’t hacks, anything that saves time or money is 100% a hack.”
Kayla saved herself £5,000 by creating a media unit in her living room using IKEA’s Havsta units.
She also transformed her windowless downstairs loo “from drab to fab” through MDF panelling and a lick of paint.
Luckily, the home-fluencer has 117,000 followers who are huge fans of her hacks and quick to defend her when trolls put their two pence in.
“I can’t believe some people,” one said. “I think it’s amazing.
“The bespoke units are so expensive and I think it’s fabulous you’ve shared these more affordable hacks.
“Rise above it.”
Others urged Kayla to “keep the inspiration coming” and suggested that the critics “are just jealous”.
