I found the best $7 dupe for Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty – I wore them side by side, I think I like the cheap version better
A MAKEUP artist has found the best dupe for Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty.
It was only $7 and when she wore the lip glosses both side by side, she liked the cheap version better.
It was a result Sammie Leigh Artistry (@sammieleighartistry) was not expecting.
When she compared the two lippies she was stunned.
But by the time she had finished, there was no doubting which one was her beauty favorite.
Sammie Leigh is a Sydney-based makeup pro.
She knows her way around a cosmetics counter but this cheaper copycat lip gloss was new to her.
“Someone told me about a dupe for the Fenty Beauty lip gloss. So I’m going to try it out,” she said in her post.

Sammie compared:
- Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminzer, $21
- Maybelline Lifter Lip Gloss hydrating lip gloss, $7
Trying them out at the same time, she did a like-for-like comparison.
“Apparently it’s meant to be a dupe for Fenty. So I’m going to do one on the bottom and one on the top,” she said.
When she had finished, she was almost speechless.
“Hang on, I think I like the top more. This is like $8. Thank you to whoever recommended this,” she wrote.
“This [Maybelline] gloss is one of the best dupes I’ve seen,” she said.
“And so affordable. I love Fenty but go to Maybelline when you need a cheaper option,” she added.
“It is an exact dupe for Fenty Beauty for half the price,” she said.
Viewers also loved the cheaper version.
“I love those glosses so much,” said one person.
“I love and live by this lip gloss,” said a second.
But there was one lone voice in the wilderness.
“I love the Fenty but the Maybelline feels so thin and I feel like it goes on my teeth when I smile,” was the experience of a third.
