Iconic noughties band announce first tour in 11 years as they celebrate 20th anniversary
ICONIC noughties band CSS have announced their first tour in 11 years as they celebrate their 20th anniversary.
The Brazilian rock band from São Paulo last toured back in 2013 with their album Planta.
The group, made up of Lovefoxxx, Ana Rezende, Carolina Parra and Luiza Sá, have returned to mark two decades since they first formed.
They will be travelling across Europe with their tour titled, It’s Been A Number Of Years Tour, over the summer.
“It’s a bit of a surprise to have so many years to celebrate,” Lovefoxxx told NME earlier this week.
“A lot of people still want to see us and think that we were special to them at some point in their lives. It was special for us, for sure.”
Lovefoxxxx, whose real name Luísa Hanae Matsushita, explained that this will be a “reunion, not a comeback”.
The star shared with the publication: “All of this started because a UK promoter wrote to us a year ago and reminded us that our 20th anniversary was coming up. ‘Don’t you want to do a celebratory tour?’ Yeah, we do! So we’re gonna play the hits.
“I don’t think we’re going to make new albums, so this is a chance to be nostalgic.
“It’s going to be very nostalgic for us too, because I remember playing those shows 15-20 years ago, but it’ll be nice to be back.
“I turn 40 this Sunday, so it’ll be nice to do this again with an adult presence.”
The frontwoman explained that they have no plans at the moment to make new music.
“We were coming back in 2019 and making demos, but then the pandemic came,” the musician said.
“We have so much going on in our lives now – besides the band – with work and careers.
“The girls live in Los Angeles and I am the only one living in Sao Paulo, which makes it difficult. We don’t really have the time now to get back and make an album, but we do have demos.”
CSS formed in September 2003 – with the full name Cansei de Ser Sexy.
The band was labelled as part of the explosion of the new rave scene of the late 2000s.
CSS releases songs in both Portuguese and English.
In 2011 founding member Adriano Cintra left the band.
The band reformed without Cintra in 2019, playing one gig in São Paulo, but its success drove the members to return full-time.
