I’m a primary school teacher and we hate loads of things you buy your kids – shoes with laces are an immediate no
A PRIMARY school teacher has revealed a list of things that parents take their kids to school with that she hates.
The Scottish teacher, took to TikTok to share her pet peeves, where she is known simply as @teaching.rural.
The first thing that grinds the infant teacher’s geers is when kids come to school with metal water bottles.
She said that this is because children often don’t screw the lids on properly, meaning they inevitably fall onto the floor and spill.
She added that they are incredibly loud when they crash to the floor.
“It’s like dropping a brick on the table or floor”, she said.
Lace up shoes are another thing that the infants teacher has grown to hate.
What help is available to parents for childcare costs?
CHILDCARE can be a costly business. Here is how you can get help.
- 30 hours free childcare – Parents of three and four-year-olds can apply for 30 hours free childcare a week.
To qualify you must work at least 16 hours a week at the national living or minimum wage and earn less than £100,000 a year. - Tax credits – For children under 20, some families can get help with childcare costs.
- Tax-free childcare – Available to working families and the self-employed, for every £8 you put in the government will add an extra £2.
This is because young children are often unable to do them up themselves, and have to get help from their teachers.
“When there’s one teacher and 25 children, this takes a while”, she said.
Another thing on the teacher’s list of pet peeves is bright and colourful pencil cases from places like Smiggle.
This is because children often find them distracting and struggle to concentrate.
Finally, the teacher revealed that she is not a fan of parents that bring their kids to school with fruits such as oranges.
This is because the young children often can’t peel them themselves, and it takes a lot of effort for the teachers to peel everyone’s fruit.
The teacher’s video has clearly struck a chord with many people, as it has racked up over 613,000 views.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on the teacher’s pet hates.
One user said: “The bottles are the worst by a mile, every time they fall over it distracts the kids for 10 minutes or more”.
Another user said: “If your kid can’t do laces, just get them Velcro shoes”.
A third person chimed in: “I’m a secondary school teacher and those water bottles do my head in.
“Even teenagers spill them everywhere!”
