I’ve fallen for my cousin – the sexual tension is off the charts, if we weren’t related we’d have slept together by now
WE have all fallen for the wrong person at some point in our lives and struggled to let go of the intense feelings we had for them.
One anonymous man has broken the internet after revealing that he has fallen in love with his cousin – and their chemistry ‘is off the chart’.
Rather than keeping his problems to himself, the heartbroken man decided to confess his feelings on Reddit earlier this year.
Writing in the ‘Off my chest’ forum, the 35-year-old man revealed that he’d fallen for his family member after she moved near in 2023.
As he spent more time with his 34-year-old cousin, they have become closer and closer – with the boundaries becoming increasingly blurred.
He wrote: “I think we are falling for each other. In fact, if we were not related I’m sure we would have had sex by now. The sexual tension is off the charts.”
This hasn’t been helped by the fact that had been virtual strangers as children, growing up in separate countries and rarely seeing each other.
“We hung out once a year when she and her family came to visit. We were close but drifted apart in our late teens,” he explained, adding: “We found we had less in common and did not stay in touch.”
As adults though, the pair now live only an hour away from each other and have an extremely close friendship as a result.
“We are both single of course and have been in multiple relationships but just not found the one. [Then] we started hanging out again and discovered we have so much in common,” complained the Redditor.
Though their relationship is purely platonic, the cousins now spend increasing amounts of time together and it’s heightened the tension between them.
“We haven’t said anything to each other or acted on any feelings,” the heartbroken insisted, although he did admit to having ‘fantasised’ about having sex with his relative.
The twisted tale ended, with the man writing: “I wish we were not related it would be so much easier. But the truth is we are.
“And I have to find a way to stop this before it gets out of hand.”
Understandably, the internet didn’t take kindly to his very candid confession with the post receiving hundreds of comments – despite being less than two months old.
“This dude is delusional,” wrote one angry Redditor, with another adding: “The number of men who mistake kindness with flirting/interest is so f***ing sad.”
Others decided to make light of the twisted love story, with a third joking: “You guys have so much in common! Like when you say grandma, you’re referring to the same person! Don’t do it mate.”
Even with the relentless mocking though, some were keen to offer the anonymous man a much-needed alternative point of view.
“You sure she feels the same? You only talk about your feelings here?” asked another user, adding: “She might just think she’s getting close to a family member in a country where she may not have lots of friends?”
We wonder how awkward next Christmas will be after this heartfelt confession.
