I found a coat at the thrift store for only $9 – I was thrilled when I saw the label, they usually sell for hundreds
LOVE comes in many forms – for one frugal shopper, her heart especially skipped a beat for a money-saving thrift find.
She was still reeling over the name-brand coat that was just a fraction of the retail price.
“First thrift of 2024 let’s go,” said Lindsay King (@kinglindsay_).
She was ready for her money-saving scavenger hunt – and things certainly started off with a bargain bang.
“Do I need another trench coat? No, I do not, but I love this one. Classic, timeless, London Fog. It was $9. Literally perfect, so tempting,” she said.
The best part might have been the price.
A London Fog single-breasted maxi trench coat sells for $220 at Macy’s, and the label certainly had its followers.
“I have always bought London Fog coats and they continue to be the best value for the money. This one has a satin lining. They no longer make the ones with the zipper warmer linings,” wrote one buyer.
Her fans were also floored by the find.
“Love me a vintage London Fog trench,” said one follower.
“Same I own too many,” she replied.
Lindsay showed off the tan trench before the thrill of the hunt kicked in again when she found a cropped leather vest with a gold zipper.
“Very sleek 90s especially zipped all the way up as a top. So cute,” she said.
There was also no fooling the frugal fashionista as she picked up “a bad fake” designer bag.
Still, that didn’t stop her.
“It reminded me that I do like those satin boxy Kate Spade bags from the 90s,” she said.
She did pass on her next find, however – pointed leather boots with a Western detail on the toe.
“The leather was thin and kind of sh*tty and just too shiny. The shiny made them look really cheap to me,” she said.
She also stayed practical as she admitted that another pair of boots, this time a classic riding style, would never fit over her “giant calf.”
It didn’t take long for her to get back into the saving saddle when she came upon a pair of chocolate brown cowboy boots with crocodile skin on the rounded toe part.
Lindsay had already decided that the boots were going home with her as she tried them on.
“I’m obsessed. And they’re taller. All my other cowboy boots are way shorter so I could justify in my mind girl math that these are different than what I already own.
“And the contrast stitching, come on. I had to buy these. Had to,” she said.
The grand finale of her thrifting trip was a black Ralph Lauren Polo quarter zip sweater.
“I always grab these when I see them. Just classic, so easy to throw on.”
She also added a “random cookbook” before calling it a day on her bargain outing.
Others were stunned with her success.
“A good thrift day,” said one follower.
“Love love love,” another watcher agreed.
“Happy thrifting,” she replied.
