ONE driver has transformed their car by redesigning her car floor mats – but some aren’t fans of the switch.

Motorist Franja has revealed in a TikTok some DIY to make her car, a Ford Fiesta, a “little extra”.

Many Brits would have grown up playing with the mats[/caption]

Floor mats sit below your feet to stop mud and dirt from passengers’ shoes staining the car’s fabric.

The mats are usually dark coloured and often require cleaning with a vacuum cleaner or stain remover.

Franja has used the fabric from a classic children’s road play mat.

That’s the classic mat many British children grew up playing on – with grey streets, green fields, and colourful buildings.

The mats can be bought off Amazon for as little as £15.

In the clip, Franja reveals how she made the mats at home.

Firstly, she bought a version of the mat and then laid her existing floor mats on the back.

Franja then drew a line around the mats and cut out the shapes on the children’s toy mat.

Then, Franja burnt the edges of the cut out mat shapes to stop the new mats from fraying.

During the process, she reveals she used 10 lighters for the burning process.

The final clip shows the new mats in the footwell of her car.

Folks were divided over whether they liked Franja’s mat design selection.

One said: “When you will have to clean those carpets…you’ll regret it.”

Another reminisced about the mat and said: “Why do I remember having the exact same Matt when I was younger and playing on it.”

A third said: “This is extremely bent but this is happening to my car.”

Meanwhile, Wheeler Dealers host Marc Priestley has shared an agonising update on his Ford Fiesta stolen from him and Mike Brewer last year.

The former F1 mechanic and his Discovery Channel co-star spent over £11,000 restoring the classic before it was cruelly pinched in just minutes as they filmed.

The Ford Fiesta used to be produced in Britain, but the production line was axed in 2023.

Over 4.8million models were sold in the UK – globally, 22million have been sold.

It topped Britain’s annual sale charts 16 times, and has been hailed as Britain’s favourite vehicle.
