I drove 8 hours to a wedding – I was mortified when the emcee pointed out I didn’t read the fine print on the invite
A WEDDING guest was furious at how she was treated after she drove eight hours to the ceremony.
She said in retrospect, she should’ve read the fine print on the invite.

The anonymous Redditor u/Baby8227 shared the story in a wedding shaming forum.
She explained that she had been invited to a colleague’s wedding which was 16 hours away roundtrip.
“Another colleague and I decided to car share & booked a bed & breakfast overnight,” she wrote.
“It was the first wedding, other than family, that I’d ever been to so I was excited and felt really honored.”
After arriving at their accommodation, their host drives them up to the highlands, where the church was located.
The ceremony itself went off without a hitch.
“The wedding ceremony was so lovely, with Celtic hand tying and a candle ceremony,” she said.
It wasn’t until the two got on transportation to attend the reception did a problem arose.
“We get to the venue and like everyone else are checking the table plan for our seats. And still checking. But can’t find our names,” she said.
The Master of Ceremonies, upon checking their invites, explained that they needed to leave because their invites only included evening drinks and the church ceremony.
“It was in tiny small print that our invite wasn’t for the meal,” she said.
The two head off to find an eatery to feed themselves, only to find out later that they were the only “evening guests.”
To make matters worse, the two eventually realized that their presence may not have been appreciated after all.
“Neither my colleague (who was now a friend by the end of the trip, shared trauma bonds lol) nor I had realized we weren’t included in the whole event,” she said.
“The bride later let it slip she only invited people from the office because our boss had told her it was the polite thing to do. We had thought we were friends with her.”
The two chose to exact their revenge by adjusting their gift. Initially, they had planned on gifting the bride some cash along with a bedding set included on her registry.
“We took the money out of the card and just gave her the bedding,” she said.
