I gave my bland new build loo a ‘stunning’ makeover for less than £100 – using cheap buys from B&Q and Amazon
A WOMAN has revealed that she gave the bland loo in her new build home a total transformation.
Jay, who is from North Yorkshire in the UK, is in the process of turning her new build house into a home.
The DIY enthusiast recently took to social media to show off her toilet’s glam makeover – which left many open-mouthed.
Posting online, Jay gave people a close-up look at the small room, which although was brand new and modern, was in need of some colour.
The plain white walls weren’t to Jay’s taste and the exposed electricity box was also getting on her nerves.
As a result, Jay used bargain buys from Amazon, B&Q and Tk Maxx to give the space a fresh new feel.
Jay shared a clip on social media and wrote: “Downstairs toilet renovation in our new build home. Should I paint the radiator to match?”
After showing off a before look at the space, we then saw the finished look, complete with trendy panelling.
Jay used bargain buys from the high-street to decorate the small room and even made sure to give the electricity box a makeover too.
Jay explained that the toilet’s renovation cost her “under £100”, as she nabbed the panelling supplies, including decorative pine mouldings and astragal mouldings from B&Q.
When it came to the cost of the panelling, Jay shared: “I think it cost £40 to do this room.”
Not only this, but she also nabbed a beautiful vase and flowers from Tk Maxx and got her stunning mirror from Debenhams.
When it came to the paint, Jay used a paint from Farrow & Ball in the shade ‘Elephant’s breath’.
At the time of writing, the TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @jaylm29, had clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 638,100 views in just one day.
‘Impressive’
Social media users were impressed with the toilet’s overhaul and many took to the comments to express this.
One person said: “Looked nice before and amazing now!”
Another added: “Stunning.”
A third commented: “Love it.”
Whilst someone else claimed: “Impressive.”
Meanwhile, another user asked: “Why on earth did the developer decide a good place for the electricity box was in there?!”
To this, Jay responded: “No idea, it’s annoyed me ever since we moved in!”
At the same time, another DIY fan questioned: “Where did you get your electric box from?”
Jay then replied and confirmed: “Just Amazon it was only £20!”
‘So tacky’
However, not everyone was as complimentary of Jay’s new loo.
One user claimed: “Panelling is so drab now, sick of the sight of it.”
A second advised: “You need some colour.”
Someone else chimed in: “Looked better before.”
Whilst a mean troll penned: “So tacky.”
