I found the perfect side hustle for stay-at-home mums… I make £1.5k a month working while my kids nap, it’s so easy
A STAY-AT-HOME mum has revealed her “easy” side hustle which she said is “perfect” for bust mums who want to stay at home with their kids.
Elly Watson took to social media to share details of her side hustle.
In a TikTok video, she explained: “You don’t have to get ready to do this, you only have to work about two to three hours a week, and you can make as much as you want”.
Elly said that she is paid by Amazon to review their products in short 30 second videos.
She said that you don’t have to purchase the products you are reviewing, and added that you don’t have to post the videos of you reviewing the products to social media.
“You don’t have to have a large social media following at all”, she said.
Elly said that she has been doing the side hustle for the past four months, and has made around £1,500 each month.
“This is something you can do while your kids are napping or when you have a little bit of free time.
“It literally takes hardly any time at all and you can make good money off of it.”
Elly explained that you can start by reviewing things around the house that you already own (as long as the product is for sale on Amazon).
She said that, after a while, Amazon sellers will begin to send you free products to review.
“Sellers pay me a flat rate to make a video, and then I upload the videos to Amazon and I can make commission on them too”.
“I get over 20 free products a month”, she said.
Elly said that she started reviewing products when she was 32 weeks pregnant with her second baby and wanted to make a bit of money to help with the bills.
“Turns out, I made enough to pay for ours rent, groceries and start building savings”, she said.
Are you taxed on side hustle earnings?
PLENTY of households are taking on side hustles such as babysitting or setting up an eBay store to boost their earnings.
And luckily, you can use a “trading allowance” which means you don’t have to pay tax on any yearly gross income of £1,000 or less.
However, if you do earn over the £1,000 threshold, you will have to declare it to HMRC.
You can claim a trading allowance via Self-Assessment on the government’s website.
First, you need to inform them you’re a sole trader and tell them how much you earn in income, when you started and who you are.
HMRC will then send you a UTR number, which you can use to submit a Self-Assessment tax return.
The tax year runs from April 6 to April 5 of the following year, and the deadline to pay is the following January 31.
Elly’s video, which was posted under the username @elllysugc has likely left many impressed, as it has racked up over 44,000 views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on the side hustle suggestion.
One user said: “I would love to do this”.
Another user said: “So amazing!
“Being a present Mama is so wonderful!”
A third user said: “Sounds awesome”.
