Buckingham Palace ‘keeping watchful eye’ on Gary Goldsmith over his ‘deeply upsetting’ Celebrity Big Brother stint
BUCKINGHAM Palace is keeping a watchful eye on Princess Kate’s uncle as he appears on Celebrity Big Brother, one expert says.
Gary Goldsmith, 58, has already spoken about his beloved niece on the reality TV show, saying Kate is getting “the best care in the world” and she is “hard to get ahold of”.
The Princess of Wales has been out of sight since Christmas Day as she recovers from abdominal surgery[/caption]The Palace is said to be keeping a close eye on Gary’s “deeply upsetting” appearance at the risk he could divulge family secrets.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told The Mirror that she thought the Palace will not act on any of Gary’s comments unless they are “completely outrageous”.
She said: “I hope [William and Kate] aren’t investing their precious time into something that will be deeply upsetting to watch. He thinks being in there he’s a knight in shining armour, but the Palace will be keeping a watchful eye.”
Jennie said she thinks Gary is pro-Kate and will remain positive about his niece, but that in the end the television appearance will cause a family rift.
She said: “We’ve heard enough about the royals not getting on. I think they’re trying to portray the image of unity – Harry’s gone his way and we’ve even seen Andrew has been accepted on the odd family occasion.
“They are not just a monarchy, it is a royal family and they’ve tried to show that they are a loving and affectionate family. So having a potential rift now between Catherine and Carole is not a good look.”
Jennie also said that every word Gary says on the show could be misinterpreted or ruing the sharp communications the Royal Family runs.
Jennie’s comments come after award-winning journalist and royal biographer Angela Levin told The Sun how Gary Goldsmith is following in Harry’s footsteps.
“Everyone is trying to cash in the connections they’ve got,” she said.
Angela added: “They’re copying Harry.”
The royal biographer claims Gary’s recent celebrity venture is part of an ongoing theme amongst those close to the royal family.
She said: “We’ve got Kate Middleton’s uncle on Celebrity Big Brother.
“We’ve got Earl Spencer making this book.
“It just feels like everyone’s kicking the royals while they’re down.”
Gary has also said on CBB he is called a ‘buncle’ by the family.
“They call me the buncle! Have you heard of a buncle? Bad uncle, apparently every family has them.”
Gary then admits: “It’s difficult to get hold of Kate at the best of times, and she’s got children and I love the fact that she’s putting family first.”
He the goes on to day he thinks Will and Kate are both the “saviour of the royal family”.
Gary signed up to the show after signing a hefty contract with the ITV show’s bosses.

Princess Kate’s scandalous millionaire uncle has been married four times and become the family’s black sheep.
Gary Goldsmith made a fortune in IT recruitment, selling his business Computer Futures for £17million in 2005. Now he is being paid a big fee to take part in Celebrity Big Brother.
The heavily-tattooed 58-year-old pleaded guilty in 2017 after assaulting his fourth wife Julie-Ann outside their central London home.
He was handed a £5,000 fine and ordered into alcohol rehabilitation.
Prince William spent a holiday with Kate at Goldsmith’s eight-acre hideaway in Ibiza, called Maison de Bang Bang, in 2006.
In a 2013 interview, Gary said: “People like to think I’m this black sheep, a bad boy. I’m not really. I’ve had my moments. I’ve got a good heart. I care about people.”
