Man ADMITS killing ‘beautiful’ mum, 43, who was discovered dead at house after neighbours heard screams
A MAN has admitted killing a “beautiful” mum who was found dead at home after neighbours heard screaming.
Charlene Mills, 43, was discovered inside the property in Gorton, Manchester, when police were called to a concern for welfare.
Peter Pitt is now facing life in jail after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
The 52-year-old has been remanded into custody ahead of sentencing at Manchester Crown Court on May 24.
Mum-of-one Charlene was declared dead at the scene on September 30 last year.
One local told how they heard “screaming” coming from the house at around 11.15am – moments before officers arrived.
They added: “It was crazy, there was police all over the place.
“There was people outside crying which I think are the family of the woman. It was really sad, heavy-hearted.”
Charlene’s family paid tribute to the mum, who was described as “beautiful inside and out”.
A statement added: “We are so deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Charlene. She was beautiful inside and out and had a personality that would bring a smile to the faces of all that knew her, no matter what the situation.
“Charlene, or Char as we all knew her, was the most perfect daughter and big sister to Amber. She loved being a mum and idolised her son Rydell and dog, Boxer. She was strong-willed, kind, and cheeky, overcoming so many obstacles in her life.
“The world just won’t be as fun without her, and our treasured memories of Char are the only little pieces of comfort we have.
“We are heartbroken and still coming to terms with this devastating news. We are extremely grateful for the messages of support and to those who have paid their respects by laying flowers.”
Greater Manchester Police has referred itself to the force’s professional standards branch due to “previous contact”.
