I go for dinner & even on holiday with my ex, he does it to win me back but I do it for the posh food
A WOMAN has admitted that she went on an awkward holiday with her ex and still goes out for dinner with him.
Karen Millar, 30, has an unconventional relationship with her ex-boyfriend George* as they went on holiday together and still enjoy dinner dates.
Karen says she thinks George is trying to win her back and she likes to eat – so agrees to the date nights as she can pick the restaurant too.
The pair got together in October 2021, after Karen had just got out of a ten year relationship where she was engaged to be married.
Despite breaking up twice so far, they end up breaking their no contact to go on holiday or try restaurants on her bucket lists of places to eat under confusing circumstances.
UNUSUAL RELATIONSHIP
The project manager, from East Kilbride, Scotland, added: “I’ve known him since I was 17 but we didn’t get together until October 2021.
“I think because I was not long out of a long term relationship, I wasn’t ready for another relationship which is what leads to us breaking up.
“After breaking up the first time, we ended up going on holiday to Amsterdam together and ended up back together.
“We broke up again in January, and after bumping into each other in the gym, he asked if I wanted to go out for dinner.
“I like to eat so I agreed and we went to an expensive steak house.
“We have also decided to book another holiday together for next month – we’re going to Rome.”
DUTCH COURAGE
The couple had previously booked a holiday to Amsterdam before breaking up in November and Karen planned to go alone.
They hadn’t spoken in over a month until she messaged him to say she didn’t want to go on her own and that he could go instead.
But instead the pair decided to go together.
Karen says it was awkward to begin with, but she’s a big believer in airport drinks and eventually they got over the uncomfortable situation of going on holiday with an ex.
The holiday went well and they ended up getting back together until January when they broke up again.
After another two weeks of no contact, they saw each other in the gym. Karen says that she ran straight back out after seeing him, and he followed her out to check she was okay.
They were back in contact and eventually her ex suggested that they meet up for dinner.
FOODIE BUCKET LIST
Being a foodie, Karen agreed if she could choose the pricey steakhouse she had been eyeing up.
They have so far been on five dates as exes, with Karen getting to choose the location each time.
They have even booked their second holiday together as exes and are off to Rome in April.
She said: “I have a list of restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London which I am dying to try, so I am slowly making my way through that list.
“When we first went out for dinner, it was quite awkward at the table but now we just try and keep the conversation neutral so they we don’t end up arguing.
“At first I kept it a big secret that I was going on dates with him, but in the end I decided to hard launch it on my TikTok.
“My friends and family weren’t happy to begin with, but they’re more on board with it now.
“After we broke up the first time I was fine and keeping myself busy, whereas he was more sad and wanted us to get back together.
“The second time, it has been the opposite way round. It felt like a real breakup and I thought we’d never see each other again.
“We both really like each other, and I think he’d like to get back with me.
“I guess we will just see what happens.”
