Kroos, who was making his 107th appearance for the national team, returned to the squad after announcing his international retirement back in 2021.

After almost three years away from the team Kroos has been re-called by the Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann.

And he wasted no time getting back into the swing of things when he assisted a goal for Florian Wirtz just seconds into their clash with France.

Kroos carefully clipped the ball over the France midfield and into the path of Wirtz who was making a run into a pocket of space.

And when the Bayer Leverkusen youngster collected the ball he let fly from distance and left France keeper Brice Samba rooted to the spot as the ball flew into the back of the net.

The assist was Kroos’ 20th since making his debut for Germany back in 2010.

And although he hasn’t forked out for the national side since Germany’s exit to England at Euro 2020 (June 2021) it didn’t seem to have an impact on him.

The ridiculously quick goal wasn’t the first to be scored in international football today either.

Unbelievably Christoph Baumgartner also netted after just seven seconds as Austria beat Slovakia 2-0 in their friendly clash.

Despite both goals coming so early in the game neither would find themselves in the top ten quickest goals in football history.

The current record for the fastest goal ever scored is held by Gavin Stokes who netted after just 2.1 SECONDS Scottish club Maryhill in a 3-0 win over Clydebank in 2017.

Fastest goals ever scored

  1. Gavin Stokes (Maryhill vs Clydebank) – 2.1 seconds
  2. Vuk Bakic (GSP Polet v FK Dorcol) – 2.2 seconds
  3. Ryan Hall (Croydon FC vs Cockfosters) – 2.31 seconds
  4. Jack Lyons (Rusthall v Chatham Town) – 2.52 seconds
  5. Marc Burrows (Cowes Sports Reserves vs Eastleigh Reserves) – 2.56 seconds
  6. Ricardo Olivera (Rio Negro Capital vs Soriano Interior) – 2.8 seconds
  7. Fred (America Mineiro vs Vila Nova) – 3.17 seconds
  8. Colin Cowperthwaite (Barrow vs Kettering Town) – 3.55 seconds
