I’m cutting my ‘careless’ kids out of my will as they’ll blow the cash on travel & nights out, people are really torn
A MAN has revealed that he wants to cut his kids out of his will as they are “careless” and will just “waste” the money on going travelling and on nights out.
The 59 year old revealed that his ex-wife passed away a few years ago, and gave each of their five children £300,000 in inheritance.
The man said his children will just waste their inheritance[/caption]Taking to Reddit, the man revealed that the children’s mother had told them that the money was not to be wasted and was to be used to pay off debt, further their educations, or to put towards them buying a house in the future.
However, the man said that two of his five children have “completely squandered” the money.
He said: “My daughter spent it all travelling across the world care-free staying in nice hotels and eating fancy dinners.
“I completely understand going on a vacation, but to blow all of it on travel against her mother’s wishes? Bloody shameful.”
He continued: “My son is even worse. He has literally spent it all on drugs, alcohol, and escorts over this time.
“None of it, none, going towards self-improvement as their mother wanted.”
The dad revealed that after seeing how his children “wasted” the money, he decided to cut them out of his own will.
“I don’t want my hard-earned money being squandered so my children can live a hedonistic lifestyle for a couple of years.”
He said that he told his other three children this in confidence, but added that one of them let the news slip to the two kids that had been shafted.
The dad revealed that the children who have been cut out of the will have now said that he is “dead to them” and that they don’t have a father.
“I don’t want to go into a long bitter fued with my kids, but damned if I’m going to have my life savings wasted by them also”, he said.
Addressing Reddit users, he added: “Any advice on how to fix this?”
Reddit users raced to the comments section to share their thoughts and advice.
One person said: “I also spent a large chunk of my mother’s inheritance traveling the world.
It was the best decision I ever made.
“My mum wouldn’t have thought I was being very responsible either but she would be thrilled for me now.
“This guy needs to learn to let go and let his children live their own lives and learn from their own mistakes.”
Another person said: “Im baffled that you’re is treating the ‘spent the money traveling the world’ kid exactly the same as the ‘spent it all on drugs and hookers’ kid.”
“Just my opinion but traveling the world doesn’t seem like a waste to me.”
A third person added: “I think a lot of people would initially struggle with being handed a huge pile of cash if they’ve never had that much before in their lives.
“Obviously, there’s no excuse for what the two kids did, but financial planning isn’t most people strong suit.
“Setting up a trust fund would be a great solution. It would at least make sure that they have enough money to pay for the absolute necessities even if they waste their own personal money.”
