I’m a vet tech & wouldn’t own ‘the most dramatic dogs’ ever – 2 more breeds ‘scream when they don’t get what they want’
CHOOSING the ideal dog when deciding to become a pet parent can be ruff.
One vet tech shared which breeds to beware of before bringing Fido into the family.
A Reddit user posted in a vet tech-oriented thread that they were not a fan of a few feisty breeds in particular.
RUFF OUT THERE
If you don’t want to deal with loud noise, it’s time to take notes.
“Corgis are the most dramatic dogs I’ve worked with – along with Huskies, and French Bulldogs,” she said.
“I have had these dogs scream when they don’t get what they want. That and run away as fast as possible,” she added.
And those weren’t the only types of pooches to make her go into panic mode.
“Min Pins, Golden Doodles, or any type of doodle for that matter, labs, herding breeds and cattle dogs, American bulldogs, and Britneys drive me insane!” she said.
She found it hard to deal with these types of dogs who had “way too much energy.”
As a pet professional, she had faced enough unpleasant encounters with the breeds to know to stay away from their troublesome temperaments.
PURE NIGHTMARE
While she “loved” German Shepherd mixes and believed any super mutt with a shepherd makes a “perfect” dog, pure-bred shepherds were another story.
“Working at an overnight dog boarding and grooming facility I’ve encountered three purebred shepherds – and a few labs – that participate in coprophagia – their own waste or the other dogs.”
According to Tender Care Animal Hospital, coprophagia is the practice of eating stool, or feces, and is not an abnormal behavior for canines in certain situations.
They explained how this behavior provides a “survival benefit” as it prevents unhygienic conditions from developing in the nest, which can lead to disease.
Many puppies also go through an oral stage in which they explore everything with their mouths, sometimes ingesting a variety of non-food items, including feces.
DOG FIGHT
If you don’t want to be a referee in a dog fight, stay away from her roundup of the most belligerent breeds.
“The most aggressive dogs I’ve encountered are boxers at number one,” she said.
Meanwhile, labs took the second spot on her list, while mutts and border collies tied for third place.
They certainly earned their place on the list considering how many fights she’s had to “break up.”
She also had a theory on another breed’s bad behavior.
“I’ve had multiple boxers fight other boxers – probably why they have the name,” she said.
She also shared those breeds she had the most affection for.
“The absolute best dogs and breeds I want to own are Standard Poodles, Dobermans, Pit Bulls, and bully breeds including cane Corsos, Vizslas, and Wolfhounds,” she said.
“They are the most incredible dogs I’ve worked with. So sweet and mild-tempered,” she said.
They might look cute, but she thought corgis were the most dramatic dogs she had ever dealt with due to their screaming tendencies[/caption]
