Who is headlining Glastonbury 2024? List of artists bands and acts confirmed for annual music festival
THE Glastonbury 2024 line-up has been announced and plenty of well-known names are set to take to the stage.
Big artists are due to headline the festival, with other popular stars performing over the weekend.
Who is headlining Glastonbury 2024?
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa performed at Glastonbury in 2017[/caption]Dua Lipa will be the first headliner of the weekend – performing on the Pyramid Stage on Friday June 28, 2024.
This will be the star’s first Glastonbury appearance in seven years, last performing in 2017.
Speaking to the BBC, she said the show occupied “50% of my thoughts”.
She added: “I’ve got to figure out a way to make 150,000 people feel like they’re in a small little nightclub.
“That’s the goal, and if there’s one place to do it, it’s got to be Glasto.”
When Dua Lipa last played at the festival it was on the John Peel stage which was her biggest audience at the time.
Just a month later she released her smash hit New Rules and she became the pop sensation that she is today.
Coldplay
This will be Coldplay’s fifth time headlining[/caption]Coldplay will be taking to the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday.
It will mark the band’s first appearance since 2016 and will make them the first act to headline Glastonbury five times.
They headlined in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2016.
The band also played the New Tent in 1999 and The Other Stage in 2000.
This comes as frontman Chris Martin previously revealed Coldplay would stop making music in 2025.
He said in 2021: “Well I know I can tell you: our last proper record will come out in 2025 and after that I think we will only tour.
“Maybe we’ll do some collaborative things but the Coldplay catalogue, as it were, finishes then.”
SZA
SZA is headlining on the Sunday night[/caption]SZA, whose real name is Solana Imani Rowe, will be singing on the Sunday night of the festival weekend.
Many will known her for her two studio albums, three EPs, one live album and 44 singles.
The musician featured on Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-winning album To Pimp A Butterfly in 2015 before finding her own fame after the success of her debut album CTRL in 2017.
The album earned her five Grammy nominations, with singles The Weekend and Love Galore going platinum.
Shania Twain
Shania Twain will be playing in the legends slot[/caption]Shania Twain will be taking on the legends slot on Sunday night.
The Canadian singer is best known for hits including Man I Feel Like A Woman, You’re Still The One and That Don’t Impress Me Much.
It’s already been rumoured that she might change the lyrics of one of her smash hits for the occasion.
She’s said she wants to change the lyrics to That Don’t Impress Me Much in a nod to Harry Styles.
I sort of see Brad Pitt as a James Dean of his generation and I see Harry Styles as that as well, of his generation.
Shania Twain
The words “so you think you’re Brad Pitt” could instead include the As It Was singer.
Appearing on BBC’s ‘Sidetracked’ podcast, she said: “I sort of see Brad Pitt as a James Dean of his generation and I see Harry Styles as that as well, of his generation.
“He’s rugged but pretty. There’s a charm that he has and he sings good, too.
“‘Hey so you think you’re Harry Styles?’ Who do you you think you are? I should do that.”
How to watch Glastonbury 2024
You can tune in to watch Glastonbury 2024 from home over the whole weekend.
The BBC is the main channel to watch the festival on – with a special channel being created just for the event.
The BBC have announced the creation of the brand new Glastonbury Channel II on iPlayer.
