Woodman’s Treehouse in Dorset is advertised as the “ultimate luxury glamping experience” thanks to its sauna, hot tub, pizza oven, hammock, open-air shower and slide.
The surrounding woodlands offer the chance at a natural break from life’s tension while the lodger could be forgiven for believing they’ve been sent into a Walt Disney film.
This tree-house is currently being listed for rent by website Host Unusual.
It was a contender for the “house of the year” in 2017 through the RIBA awards, which celebrates architectural brilliance.
The year prior it claimed the “small project of the year” gong.
It was in 2016 also featured on popular Channel 4 programme George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces and its documentary series Grand Designs: House of the Year.
The lavish tree-house opened that year after Guy Mallinson teamed up with bridge architect Keith Brownlie to craft a “secluded haven for two”, Mallinson’s website says.
The Host Unusual listing for Woodman’s Treehouse says: “Built on long stilts and reaching in excess of 30ft high, the treehouse sits aloft among the branches of three oak trees, yet is not actually affixed to the trees themselves.
“This ensures no stress is placed on the trees in any way and also preserves the delicate eco-system of this stunning woodland.
“The Woodman’s Treehouse is accessed via a private pier-like boardwalk, at the end of which you’ll find an amazing scorched oak front door.”
The house has a unique entrance, with a steam engine steering wheel acting as the door handle.
The listing adds: “It’s rather like a submarine’s airlock door – inviting you into the wonder and enchantment that waits behind it.
“The bedroom offers a bespoke king-sized bed that sleeps two, a revolving woodburner, and picture windows for uninterrupted views.”
Mallinson has designed others, too, including Dazzle Treehouse and Pinwheel Treehouse, both also located in Dorset.
