Major price cut makes popular EV one of the cheapest on sale in the UK… & brand is even offering £3,000 ‘E-Grant’ on top
A POPULAR motor has now become one of the cheapest EVs on the market after a major price slash.
Fiat has massively trimmed the asking fee for its 500e vehicles.
The manufacturer had rolled out its ‘E-Grant’ scheme for several months which made some electric vehicles £3,000 cheaper.
Fiat say they wanted to incentivize climate-conscious motorists to move away from diesel engines.
But the Italian brand has gone even further, cutting an additional £3,200 for its 500e and 500e Convertible electric motors.
As a result, the eye-catching 500e can set buyers back as little as £21,995.
However, EV fans may be better off holding out for the rollout of the much-anticipated Dacia Spring, who have promised tight-fisted motorists that its entry-level 500e could be yours for under £15,000.
“At FIAT, we believe in electric for all. We believe it’s crucial that we continue to work towards making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable for people across the UK,” Damien Dally, Managing Director of FIAT UK.
“That’s why we’re putting our money where our mouth is again to encourage customers to go electric.
“Our effort to reduce prices means the Fiat 500e is now one of the most affordable electric vehicles you can drive today – which we are proud to be able to say.
“We want UK drivers to be able to experience a taste of the sweet life behind the wheel of our multi award winning 500e.
“Hopefully this means more people will be able to experience La Dolce Vita.”
NEW LOOK
Elsewhere, the much-loved Nissan Leaf is set for a face-lift from family hatchback to SUV in a complete transformation.
A new teaser offers clues into what the electric SUV will look like gliding down the roads, with confirmation it’s based on Nissan‘s “Chill-Out” concept – promising sleek and modern designs.
Nissan’s Europe design vice president Matthew Weaver earlier this year told Auto Express: “It’s been quite a journey with (the new Leaf).
“The chill-out concept was very clean, very cool, and those elements are still coming through on the production-ready version.
“We’re nearing completion, and things like aerodynamics, packaging on a car like that, they’re at the forefront of the importance.
