Coronation Street resident rocked by shock death that leaves them debating their Weatherfield future
ONE Coronation Street resident was left shocked after it was revealed their mother had died unexpectedly.
The difficult scenes came as they began to grow closer to their family without them even realising it.
Kit Green was rocked as his adoptive mum died in Coronation Street[/caption] He was secretly getting to know his long-lost family as he heard the news[/caption]Policeman Kit Green is the long-lost son of Bernie Winter and brother to Gemma and Paul.
During tonight’s episode, Kit found himself growing closer to his long-lost relatives after deciding that he originally wanted to keep away from them.
So far, Bernie has only disclosed the truth about being Kit’s mother to Kit himself with the pair keeping the information a secret from the rest of the Street.
With Gemma and husband Chesney seemingly in financial ruin, the mum-of-five was looking at a stretch inside for shoplifting after nabbing, and then returning, a £45 pair of shoes.
Bernie pleaded with Kit to use his position in the force to help get Gemma off the charge.
Appearing to feel empathy for his struggling sister, he opted to get the shoe shop owner to drop all of the charges after digging around in his financial history and threatening to expose him.
Gemma was later left over-the-moon after discovering that Kit had gone out of his way to help her as they shared a quiet moment with each other back on the Street.
Unaware of who he was, she soon invited him in for a drink to say thank you where he spent time playing with Gemma’s quads.
Appearing happy being surrounded by his family, an incoming phone call soon saw Kit rocked to the core.
Sitting on Gemma’s sofa, he was left shaken as he was delivered the bombshell admission that his mum had suddenly died.
He was informed she had suffered a stroke and he soon raced to leave Gemma’s house but not before he came face-to-face with Bernie.
In his car, he raged at his birth mum as he said: “I should have been with her today.
“Instead I got caught up helping with your dodgy family.”
He sobbed as he was left distraught at the mum he “loved” being dead whilst the one who “abandoned” him “being very much alive”.
Amid his tears, Kit then soon appeared to have a change of heart as he told Bernie that his adoptive mum’s death had made him reflect and he was now keen to get to know Gemma and his dying brother Paul.
He insisted they tell the twin siblings everything tomorrow.
But as he headed back to the car, his smile appeared to drop – is Kit telling the whole truth?
Coronation Street's shock exits 2024
Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:
Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.
The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza’s grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.
Paul Foreman will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.
After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite, portrayed by Peter Ash, was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.
Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.
Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.
Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.
Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.
The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.
Simon’s been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.
Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.
It looks likely she’ll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.
Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.
She’s had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.
