I’m a single mum & live in a van with two kids – I’ve saved £109k on rent, never pay to park it & we have a dishwasher
A SINGLE mother has revealed that she lives full-time in a van with her two children.
As a result of her life on wheels, Rebekah, 33, explained that in the past three years, she has been able to save over £109,000 on rent.
The interior designer confessed that she lives a stationary lifestyle in a Forest River Heritage Glen 378FL.
But Rebekah shared that she never pays to park the van and it’s much bigger inside than you might imagine.
Not only does she have a kitchen with an oven and a dishwasher, but it’s also got a loft and an office space too.
Showing off her home on social media, Rebekah shared a video with the caption ‘I’ve saved $140,000 [£109,250] on rent over the last three years living in a RV, come take a tour with me.’
She then gave her followers a close-up look inside her home, as she said: “It has a front living room – I ripped out all the furniture that the RV came with and added a bunch of residential pieces to make it feel a little bit more homey.
“There’s some nesting tables, the bar area and then this is the kitchen. I have a full oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator, freezer.
“I installed a dishwasher, ice maker. I even removed the dinette that it came with to just make it a little bit more ergonomical.”
Not only this, but Rebekah then proudly gave her followers a look at her bathroom, which is complete with a full shower and a flushable toilet.
As well as this, she also showed off inside her bedroom, which has a large bed and a cupboard with a hidden laundry room with a washing machine.
If that wasn’t enough, in her bedroom she also has space for her “office” complete with an Apple computer.
Following this, Rebekah shared: “My kids sleep upstairs in this loft – they have two residential twin size beds.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @the_realrebekah, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 454,000 views in just 12 hours.
The Rise Of Van Life
The rise of van life began during the pandemic in 2020. With no one able to leave the country, staycations became popular for many say camping blog venturecampers.
On top of that, the rising cost of renting a house has put many off doing so, especially when wages have failed to keep up with the cost of living crisis.
Although it has gained popularity again, many people opted for van life in the 60s and 70s.
Social media users were stunned at Rebekah’s home and many took to the comments to express this.
One person said: “Nicer than many people’s homes! Good job moma.”
I have never paid lot rent. I’m on my friend’s land right now

Another added: “It’s so cute! I love your style!”
A third commented: “I’ve been contemplating living the RV life. Your home is beautiful.”
Is it legal to live in a van?
IF you are looking to live in a van to save money or travel, you'll be pleased to know that there are no UK laws stopping you.
However, you must ensure your vehicle has passed its MOT and is fully road legal.
There could also be restrictions on where you can park up and sleep in your van.
For example, local authorities place restrictions on certain streets or lay-bys, and you could be fined if you spend the night there.
It could also be unsafe to spend the night in some locations (particularly at night time).
Check the The Highway Code guide for guidance.
Whilst someone else shared: “What a dream.”
At the same time, one user asked: “But isn’t it expensive to park it somewhere?”

To this, Rebekah claimed: “I have never paid lot rent. I’m on my friend’s land right now.”
Meanwhile, another user questioned: “Is your goal to buy a house someday?”
In response, Rebekah claimed: “Eventually. I have already owned a house and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.”
