Millions of TVs receive nine free new channels with reality from Real Housewives, dramas and cartoons for the kids
BRITS may notice nine new channels on their TVs very soon as part of a major deal with US media giant NBC Universal.
The development includes a number of genres, from reality TV with Real Housewives, to top dramas and cartoons for kids.
New York Undercover available now on LG 1[/caption] There’s content suitable for kids too[/caption]But you’ll only be able to benefit from the free upgrade if you have a smart LG TV.
The pair have agreed to launch nine streamed channels, so you’ll need to have your TV connected to the internet or Wi-Fi.
LG 1 is already available and gains gritty urban police drama New York Undercover, which centres on the trials and tribulations of two officers in Gotham.
The free channel will also have cult classic sci-fi series 12 Monkeys, based off Terry Gilliam’s 1995 film that starred Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt and Madeleine Stowe.
Sliders will air on the channel too, which follows a young genius who invents a teleportation device that allows him and his friends to “slide” between parallel worlds, experiencing places that look familiar to their world, but sometimes with deadly differences.
Finally, there’s SeaQuest an Emmy-winning series executive produced by Steven Spielberg, following the adventures of a team on a large underwater vessel that polices futuristic undersea colonies on Earth.
LG 1 was introduced in April, with a host of shows from Lionsgate as well as Sony.
The channel has exclusive rights to series such as Wong & Winchester and Paul T. Goldman.
But soon there will be some entirely new channels themed around hit shows and series alongside it.
These include Real Housewives, Million Dollar Listing and even classics like Xena: Warrior Prince.
