One person described the Panesars as “lowlifes”, as they wrote: “They’re all a bit scummy. Suki has shown she does have a conscience now and I do like her. The rest are lowlifes.”
Another added: “I literally can’t stand them, there’s not a single thing to like about them.”
While a third commented: “No. They are all rotten and I wish they would leave.”
A fourth remarked: “They’re awful people, and a lot of their stories delve into the realms of sheer absurdity, but all the money grabbing, backstabbing, power struggles, and uneasy alliances with a very slight glimmer of heart underneath it all make for pretty entertaining viewing.
“I also think the current lineup is much stronger than the original incarnation of the family.
“Even Vinny isn’t quite as much of a waste of space as he used to be.”
However, another fan had a slightly more positive outlook towards the family, as they wrote: “The Panesars are a horrible bunch of people but I absolutely love watching them all.”
At the beginning, the Panesar family only comprised three brothers: Kheerat (Jaz Deol), Jags (Amar Adatia) and Vinny (Shiv Jalota).
With Jags having been killed and Kheerat now in prison, Vinny is the only brother still in Albert Square.
He has since been joined there by several other family members.
This includes the brothers’ mother Suki (Balvinder Sopal), who made her first appearance in January 2020.
Since arriving in Walford, she has begun a relationship with Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) and helped cover up Keanu Taylor’s murder.
Meanwhile, their father Nish (Navin Chowdhry), who had been an unseen, imprisoned figure, made his on-screen debut in September 2022.
