I was living on £20 a week – now I’ve turned down six-figure fashion deals & written my own book, says LadBaby Mum
SHE was once living on £20 a week and had to go to food banks to keep herself and her family fed and watered.
Now, LadBaby Mum, aka Roxanne Hoyle’s career is going from strength to strength, with news coming today that she and husband Mark have written their own book.
Roxanne Hoyle, aka LadBaby Mum, will be discussing her decision to walk away from a six-figure fashion deal in her and husband Mark’s first autobiography[/caption] The tome will follow the pair’s rise to fame, after they initially struggled to get by on £20 a week and had to rely on food banks[/caption] It’s not their first foray into the literary world though, as they’ve also written a series of children’s books about Greg the Sausage Roll[/caption]The tome will cover the pair’s rise to fame, the start of their parenting journey, their epic Christmas single successes and how they became record breakers, and their move over to the literary market with their Greg the Sausage Roll books.
It will also discuss Rox’s decision to walk away from a six-figure deal with In The Style, after releasing numerous hit ranges with the clothing brand.
Speaking exclusively to Fabulous Online, Rox said: “I might not look like the women you see on the telly or cover of magazines, I’m loud, curvy, colourful and energetic.
“I do however, look like the millions of other real mums on the school run, the grafters, the unsung heroes that don’t ever get the attention we deserve.
I just wasn’t given the creative freedom to achieve what I knew my audience would love

“Very few brands make clothes for us women, which is why when I had the opportunity to do a clothing line with a brand I jumped at the chance.”
Adding that the In The Style job initially “fulfilled a lifetime dream”, Rox said that “in the beginning it was everything I wanted and everything they wanted, but it didn’t last”.
“What started with such success and passion eventually changed as the role and industry progressed,” she sighed.
And while the decision to turn down six figures was undoubtedly a hard one to make, Rox was ultimately happy with the move, as she wasn’t going to sign up to something where her “voice wasn’t heard”.
“Six figures is such a life changing amount of money to say no to, but after months of trying to make the right products for the plus size market, at the best possible quality, at the most affordable prices, I just wasn’t given the creative freedom to achieve what I knew my audience would love,” she continued.
“It was heartbreaking as it was something I loved with all my heart but when I didn’t feel my voice was going to be heard and I wouldn’t be able help women who look like me feel seen, heard and celebrated I know it was time to leave.”
Rox will go into more detail about the tough decision in Our LadBaby Journey: Success, Sacrifice and Sausage Rolls, due for release on 7th November.
But she also told us that she was determined never to take her relationship with the “mums and women who follow me” for granted.
“They’ve held me up when in my lowest mental health days, they’ve championed me and celebrated some of the biggest moments of my life, so I wasn’t ever willing to compromise on their support, whatever the offer put on the table,” she insisted.
“I don’t ever want to feel like I’ve failed these women the love they’ve shown me and my family.”
LadBaby now has an epic online following – Rox’s solo Instagram page has 1.3 million followers, for example.
And while the majority of people are keen to take on Rox’s style, beauty and parenting tips, there are always those who have something critical to say.
Why do so many mums love LadBaby's Rox?
THE news that LadBaby - Mark and Roxanne Hoyle - are releasing an autobiography in November, signifies a major career milestone for the pair.
And while they initially found success as a couple, thanks to their harebrained ideas and hilarious pranks on each other, Rox has made a name for herself on her own – and has an incredible 1.3 million followers on her Instagram page.
But what is it that has made Rox so popular with her millions of fans?
I think it’s a combination of her down to earth attitude, her bubbly sense of humour and her expert hacks.
As a mum-of-two myself, I’m always looking for ways to cut costs and keep the kids entertained, and rarely does a week go by that Rox doesn’t share a hack to help.
When she shares her hair and beauty tips on her social media, she can guarantee that fans are going to hit the shops in search of the products themselves.
In fact, when she shared a Primark ice face roller recently, I was one of the first to go and grab one, and it’s been a total game changer for my puffy morning skin.
She’s also managed to stay humble despite her and her husband’s rise to fame – a prospect that is much harder than it sounds.
And when it comes to the red carpet events she’s lucky enough to attend, Rox will usually go for a budget high street look rather than a fancy designer number.
So, as the summer holidays start, I’ll definitely be checking Rox’s pages to see if she’s got any tips on entertaining the kids on a budget for six weeks.
After all, it all helps!

Rox will be talking about how trolls have affected her in the book, as well as her top tips and tricks for protecting her mental health.
She and Mark took to their Instagram pages on Friday morning to announce the exciting book news, and struggled to control their emotions as they returned to a “meaningful” spot from their past.
“Seven years ago we were sat in this park,” a tearful Mark said.
“I remember Phoenix (son) was only about one and he was this bundle of joy, running around this field.
“But I remember, we only had about three months left before not being able to afford our house.
“And I’ll be honest, I didn’t really know what we were going to do.
“We’re here to read our own book at the place where we were once the saddest.
“And I just want to say thank you to everyone that’s followed our journey and shared our videos!”
