Hairstylist shares insider wedding day wisdom – and the only people who should get their locks done after the bride
WITH wedding season upon us, a hairstylist has shared the proper order for a bridal party to get their glam on.
She also revealed that there is a select group of people who should get their hair done after the bride on her special day.
Wedding days usually are pretty stressful, and the process of getting ready — including who in the bridal party should be doing what and when — can add to frayed nerves.
Beauty Club London founder Louise Bailey has a solution to that common problem.
As a hair extensions expert with two decades of experience, she shared what she thinks is the best order for the wedding party’s hair to ensure everyone is happy, especially the bride.
YOUTH AND YOUTHFUL
The last people to get their hair done usually have the least amount of it and don’t need a complicated look.
“Flower girls and young bridesmaids should be the last ones to take to the chair to get their hair styled,” Bailey advised.
Just add “sweet angelic curls” or style longer locks into a low bun and let some loose pieces fall around the face with a few added accessories.

SHORT START
The first up isn’t the woman of honor but rather anyone with short, fine, or straight hair because they are generally easier to do and hold the style longer.
“Starting with those with short, fine, or straight hair will allow your stylist to get into a natural rhythm and spend more time on those with more hair,” Bailey said.
Some of her suggested looks are a “simple blowout,” a sleek and straight look, or a “few romantic, loose waves.”
Those who prefer their hair up can do an elegant low bun or ponytail.
Incorporate bobby pins and accessories to hold an all-day look.
She said it was essential to embrace the hair’s natural length and texture and not use products that are too heavy.
“However, beware of more complex looks on these hair types, as it can be harder to maintain volume, causing them to fall flat as the day progresses,” she added.
LONG AND LENGTHY
Next up, is anyone with longer, thicker hair or with extensions.
“Those with more hair should take to the chair to ensure they get the time and attention they need,” Bailey suggested.
“These hair types may naturally have more volume, but getting most styles to hold can often be challenging and require more tools and products.”
She recommended a trick of adding hair oil to combat shine and maintain frizz, while “a setting spray, heat protectant, hot rollers or curling iron, and a good hairspray will keep it in place.”
If you have naturally long, thick hair, she advised keeping it down in soft waves or a half-up style for an effortless look or experimenting with textured updos.
Extensions are also a great way to add extra volume.
Clip-ins can be removed easily and offer temporary length and volume, while tape-ins “provide a seamless look that’s less heavy on the head.”
“The best looks for extension wearers are typically loose braids, ponytails, and half-up styles,” she said.

Bailey said the trend is leaning toward chic, sleek buns inspired by Sofia Richie and Vanessa Hudgens for medium and long hair.

First comes love and third comes the lovely bride.
No matter what type of hair texture she has, Bailey said it’s “always best to do it nearer the end.”
That way it can stay as fresh and secure as possible before she walks down the aisle.
If possible, hire a separate stylist just for the bride so she’s not left waiting forever to get her hair done and encounter any delays.
“You don’t want a bridezilla on your hands!” Bailey warned.
FINAL TOUCHES
Lastly, Bailey said to “always allow extra time for additional touch-ups.”
This is especially for members of the wedding party who’ve had their hair done hours before the ceremony began.
“This includes checking for any hair that’s slipped out of place, re-securing grips, adding a final spritz of hairspray, and applying any additional accessories,” she explained.
