Team GB star Sky Brown, 16, dislocates shoulder just days before going for Olympic skateboarding gold
SKY BROWN has dislocated her shoulder just days before she was set to compete for Olympic gold.
The Team GB star was set to compete at the Paris Olympics to try and better her bronze medal from Toyko in 2021.
However, it has been confirmed that she dislocated her shoulder on Sunday before flying to France.
Brown, 16, is now being looked after by Team GB’s medical team.
It is still hoped that she will be able to compete in the women’s Park skateboarding on August 6 and go for gold.
She was just 13 years old when she competed at the Tokyo Games.
This saw her become the youngest-ever athlete to represent Team GB.
She broke the 93-year record that was held by Margery Hinton in 1928 in doing so.
Brown is desperate to be able to represent Team GB in Paris and shared her excitement on social media just five days ago.
She posted a selection of pictures since 2021 to show her journey to this year’s event.
She captioned the post: “What a journey, I’m thankful for every moment along the way, everything and everyone and all the memories.
“Now for the fun part… LET GO PARIS 2024!!!!”
Fans have hailed her resilience and determination to compete on social media.
One posted: “Brown is one tough cookie.”
A second wrote: “Good luck Sky.”
A third commented: “A sad news. We want her to compete.”
A fourth said: “These athletes are monsters.
“What they do to themselves mentally and physically is so far beyond what we, ordinary mortals, can do to ourselves.”
