Eighties movie star, 69, looks like she’s ageing backwards 44 years after playing ditzy air stewardess in iconic comedy
JULIE Hagerty looks like she’s ageing backwards, 44 years after playing a ditzy air stewardess in the Airplane franchise.
Eighties movie star Julie, 69, saw her star rise when she took on the role of Elaine Dickinson in the in iconic 1980 comedy and its 1982 sequel.

Reflecting on her overnight success, she told Closer Weekly: “I came back to New York and I was babysitting for money until the movie came out.
“I went to the opening on a pair of crutches, because the baby broke a little glass and I stepped on it and had stitches on my foot.
“I was living in my girlfriend’s grandmother’s alcove then. We were sharing the apartment illegally because the rent was so low, but if the sink broke we had to do the dishes in the tub!
“So you’re in this big movie and then this, but it keeps everything in a very good perspective.”
But, before her breakthrough in film, she began her career in modeling and off-Broadway theatre.
She starred in several notable films during the 80s and 90s, working alongside Albert Brooks in the critically acclaimed Lost in America, as well as A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy, directed by Woody Allen.
And, in What About Bob? she played Fay Marvin opposite Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss.
Her noughties filmography includes roles in Freddy Got Fingered, Just Friends, She’s the Man and Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Julie’s talents are not confined to the big screen – she has made numerous television appearances too.
She’s guest-starred in popular TV shows like Malcolm in the Middle, Everybody Loves Raymond, ER and Grace and Frankie.
In recent years, Julie has continued to impress audiences with her performances in films such as Marriage Story and the holiday-themed A Christmas Story Christmas.
Julie is married to insurance executive, Richard Kagan. The pair do not share any children.
