According to Star TV, Bonnie was put on the map for the film thanks to Bruce who recommended her after seeing her perform in a film about drag racing.
An insider told them: “At the time that Die Hard was casting, Bedelia was a rising star nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in Heart Like a Wheel.
“Willis had caught the movie – about the first female drag-racer – and he was floored by Bedelia’s performance. So he recommended her for the part of Holly Gennaro, and the studio agreed.”
Following her appearance in Die Hard, she earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Heart Like a Wheel (1983).
Her portrayal of the no-nonsense estranged wife of John McClane catapulted her to new heights in Hollywood.
She continued to grace both the big and small screens throughout the 90s and appeared in the adaptation of Stephen King’s best-selling horror novel Needful Things in 1883.
From 2001 to 2004, she was a series regular on the cop drama The Division and spent six seasons on NBC’s Parenthood.
More recently she has starred in TV series and films such as CSI, What/If, Parent Hood and 2021’s Panic.
In 2022, she had a leading role alongside This Is Us alum Justin Hartley in the Netflix holiday film The Noel Diary.
With a remarkable career spanning over six decades, Bonnie’s estimated net worth stands at an impressive £3.3 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
She is also the aunt of famous actors Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone, Kieran Culkin from Succession, and Kit Culkin from Scream.
Bonnie was married to screenwriter Ken Luber from 1969 to 1980, during which they had two sons, Uri and Jonah.
The star later wed actor Michael MacRae, known for his roles in Battlefield Earth and Masterminds, in 1995.
