Adele reveals clever tactic to ward off hangover as she kicks off residency in Munich
SHE has mended broken hearts with her emotional ballads over the years.
But it seems that Adele also knows how to cure sore heads after revealing her tactic to ward off a hangover.
The British singer kicked off her month-long residency in Germany at a purpose-built stadium in Munich on Friday.
Adele gave up booze last year after revealing she was “borderline alcoholic” during her twenties.
But she’s no longer teetotal and shared her solution that lets her enjoy a drink without the side effects.
She told the 80,000 fans: “Hydrate while you dehydrate is what I like to say because I can really drink.
“I’m British. The key to being able to drink all day and all night is to have a glass of alcohol, you have a glass of water, you have a glass of alcohol, you have a glass of water.
“So you’re hydrating while you dehydrate.”
Adele was met with cheers from her audience as she asked: “Are any of you drunk though?”
She added: “I can’t wait to have a drink on Sunday. Oh my God. Putting the show together is crazy.
“I can’t believe we choose to do it for fun?
“It’s so high pressure and I get very, very stressed.
“Although I will tell you something, I know I need to do a couple of songs but, I also just like talking to people.”
Adele, who has an estimated worth of £170million, added: “Sorry, I don’t really get out of the house very much.”
Last year Adele — whose track I Drink Wine reached number four in the charts in 2022 — said she missed having a tipple during her residency at The Colosseum in Las Vegas.
Speaking about her sobriety, she said: “It’s boring.
“I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my twenties but I miss it so much. I cut out caffeine.”
During many of her shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Adele joked with her audiences: “The more you drink, the better I sound.”
If her performance on Friday night was anything to go by, I hope Adele is toasting with a glass of champagne.
Si and Louis bury the hatchet
THEIR friendship looked to be on the rocks when, during his Celebrity Big Brother stint, Louis Walsh took the mickey out of Simon Cowell.
But I can reveal the former X Factor judges reunited for the first time in five years last weekend.
Simon was in Dublin filming auditions for his new boyband as part of Netflix documentary The Midas Touch when Louis dropped in behind the scenes.
The former Boyzone manager showed his support for the music mogul and offered his advice on the hopefuls.
An insider said: “Simon and Louis hadn’t seen each other in a long time, but Simon has a thick skin and a sense of humour and was more than happy to bury the hatchet and get Louis on board to help with his boyband search.
“He really values Louis’ opinion and expertise when it comes to music and boybands. He knows there is a lot of talent in Ireland and he didn’t want to miss anyone.”
Pop Idol veteran Pete Waterman also joined in the backstage huddle as he offered his two cents.
Maybe Louis should take Sharon Osbourne along for the ultimate reunion . . .
My 'Posh' car hell
VICTORIA BECKHAM used to be “mortified” when her dad drove her to school in his Rolls-Royce.
Last year in Netflix four-parter Beckham, the ex Spice Girl was mocked about the motor by hubby David.
In a new interview in Vogue Australia she said: “My dad had a Rolls-Royce and he also had a white van. We went to a regular school.
“One day we’d go to school in the Rolls-Royce and one day we’d go in the van.
“Me and my siblings used to beg him, ‘Can we please go to school in the white van?’ Like, we were mortified at the idea of going in the Rolls-Royce. Nowadays, I’d be like, let’s go in the Roller!”
Ryan is eyeing pad too
RYAN GOSLING is following the lead of fellow Hollywood hunk Ryan Reynolds – by buying a house in London.
The Barbie actor has been looking at mansions in Barnes, a leafy, riverside neighbourhood in the south of the capital which is popular with the rich and famous.
The Ken actor and his wife Eva Mendes are keen to lay down roots in the area so he has a home when he is in Britain.
He has recently been in the capital shooting sci-fi flick Project Hail Mary, in which he plays science-teacher-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace.
An insider said: “Ryan and Eva would certainly add an A-list element to an already well-to-do area.
“The couple have several property contacts they are utilising to help them find the perfect place, along with a budget of over £10million.”
Last July it was revealed that Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds had snapped up a £4million home in South-West London with wife Blake Lively.
He and fellow Canadian-born star Gosling are pals and often pose together at awards events.
Beast ex: I'll help ditched
MARK LABBETT’s ex HAYLEY PALMER has revealed she wants to become a relationship coach following her break-up with The Chase star.
Mark – nicknamed The Beast – dumped Hayley in a three-minute phone call in May, just days after the pair had celebrated their first anniversary.
At the National Reality TV Awards in London, Hayley said: “I had hundreds of girls message me over that period, which was lovely. We still have a little community and text each other.
“I said to this girl the other day, ‘Do you want to hop on a Zoom’, and I was able to help her. I thought, ‘Maybe that is my calling?’
“I felt good helping her and I knew exactly what she was going through.”
Tyler and co stop touring
AEROSMITH have retired from touring after 54 years.
Lead singer Steven Tyler suffered vocal cord damage and fractured his larynx last September and has still not fully recovered.
The Dream On hitmakers were due to resume their final concert tour, Peace Out: The Farewell Tour next month, performing across North America and Canada and concluding in Buffalo, New York, in February 2025.
But in a statement on Friday, the band said: “We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing.
“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury.
“We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side.
“Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.
“We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”
