Four ways to tuck into your favourite holiday treats without breaking the bank[/caption]Here’s how to tuck into a holiday-inspired feast . . .
PERFECT PIZZA: Get a flavour of Italy by baking your own pizza. The Sainsbury’s Inspired to Cook pizza base mix is 90p. Just add water to create a dough, then add tomato sauce and mozzarella for a classic margherita pizza or get creative and experiment with your own ingredients before baking in the oven.
TAPAS TIME: Lay on a Spanish-style spread of small sharing dishes, perfect for relaxed al-fresco dining.
Take a break from the kitchen and bag two tapas dishes for £5 from Tesco with a Clubcard, saving up to £2 on the likes of stuffed peppers, olives and hams. Or get three dishes for £7 at Asda, including tortillas, Iberico cheese and chorizo.
CHEERS: A glass or two of Sangria will transport you to Spain. Mix up a jug with a bottle of cheap, light red wine.
Sainsbury’s house Pinot Noir is £5.50 or Aldi’s Castellore Primitivo is £5.99. Add to the jug with ice and a few handfuls of chopped fruit such as apple, orange and lemon.
Then pour in 100ml of Spanish brandy — Soberano 5 Brandy Reserva is down to £15 from £16.50 at Asda — and top up with sparkling water.
FREE DINNER: If you fancy a holiday- style meal out, snap up “kids eat free” deals. The Real Greek offers free children’s meals on Sundays with every £10 spent by an adult. At Bella Italia kids eat free all day every Thursday and for £1 from 4-6pm on Sunday to Wednesday if an adult meal is bought.
Get a free pizza for children under 12 at Franco Manca for every adult meal bought. Or download the Las Iguanas app and join its loyalty programme to get a free kids’ meal with each adult main course.
