I’m a traveller but I don’t look like one – the big issue in our community that they judge me for but I’m happy
A WOMAN from the traveller community has revealed the one big issue they still face from the inside.
Jade Kennedy, from the UK, took to social media to reveal the reality she faces as a traveller woman who refuses to stick to stereotypes.
In the clip, she said: “Do you know what I think travelling people are terrible for?”
“It’s caring for other people’s opinions, like way too much,” she continued.
“Like they will literally live their lives for the fear of what somebody will think of them.”
Jade revealed that she decided to chop her hair off when she was 21 and shave her head – something she revealed wasn’t common for girls to do in her community.
In one clip she added: “They never had a shaved hair gypsy girl from the UK.”
The blonde beauty also revealed she was happy to break beauty stereotypes and rock an alternative look with blue or black lipstick as she loved being ‘eccentric’.
Asking why her own community judges her, Jade put it down to the fact she refuses to blend in with them adding ‘you don’t dress, talk or go on like some of them.’
But Jade wasn’t about to let other people’s opinions of her stop her being happy and herself.
She added: “The second you stop caring for other people’s opinions, you’ll be a million times happier.”
The clip has since gone viral on her TikTok account @jadekennedy_777 with over 72k views and 2,200 likes.
People were quick to show their support for Jade in the comment section.

“I’m a 43-year-old traveller mum and genuinely think your inspiration I’ve a 14-year old-girl and pray she follows you in your mind set,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Not a lie told.”
“Personally i think you are literally iconic,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “100% spot on Hun, never worry about others, life is for living.”

Distinct Language: Many travellers speak Shelta, also known as Cant or Gammon, a distinct language that mixes elements of Irish, English, and other languages. This language serves as a cultural marker and a means of private communication within the community.
Religious practices: The traveller community often follows Roman Catholicism, with religious festivals and milestones like baptisms, communions, and weddings being particularly significant. However, individual beliefs and practices can vary widely.
Unique celebrations: Events such as horse fairs and traditional weddings are major social gatherings for travellers. These occasions are marked by elaborate preparations, vibrant attire, and communal participation.
