BBC News star QUITS ‘childhood dream’ role after five years in shock move as she issues thank you to fans
A POPULAR BBC News star has sensationally quit her role at the broadcaster after five years.
Emmanuelle Lhoni confirmed in a lengthy post that she had decided to walk away from the BBC despite it being a “childhood dream come true”.
The 29-year-old became the youngest black female weather presenter with the corporation after joining local programme North West Tonight as one of its leading weather presenters.
The glam weather broadcaster has also been increasingly seen delivering news reports on sister channel BBC World Service as well as the flagship show BBC Breakfast.
Alongside a snap of her in the BBC’s MediaCityUK studios in Greater Manchester, Emmanuelle delivered a heartfelt message to her supporters as she confirmed her exit.
She said: “After 5 AMAZING years, it’s time to say goodbye to BBC North West Tonight.
“It’s an understatement to say working on this programme was a childhood dream come true! (I’m from Greater Manchester so you know we always watched North West Tonight!)
“I still can’t believe I got to work with and learn from journalists and presenters I looked up to and admired for years.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this point and during these 5 years. And a BIG thank you to our viewers
“I have enjoyed covering this region for you and I am so humbled you welcomed me into your homes!
“I will of course let you know about what’s next soon. Here’s to the future.”
The BBC favourite was inundated with messages from fans and colleagues alike who wished the star good luck on her next adventure as well as thanking her for her infectious broadcasts.
One person said to the star: “All the very best in your new chapter, lovely. It was a joy to work with you right at the very beginning and see you blossom! Wherever you head next, they’re lucky to have you!”
Another added: “Oh, Emmanuelle, we will miss you so much. Good luck for everything in the future.”
A third penned: “And as a viewer it’s been great to see you presenting on BBCNWT. Wishing you well for what ever you have planned in the future.”
Before a fourth added: “Aww no you’re a wonderful lady ,Gonna Miss you Emmanuelle Good and luck and best wishes for the future.”
Emmanuelle remained coy on what was next for her but vowed to keep her followers up to date.
She is the latest star to make an exit from the BBC after a slew of other hosts also decided to leave for good over the past few months.
Tulip Mazumdar, the BBC‘s Global Health Correspondent, quit at the start of the summer to spend more time with her children.
76-year-old Sean Rafferty also quit his long-running BBC Radio 3 programme In Tune back in June.
Whilst, BBC newscaster Aaron Heslehurst walked away from the channel after more than 22 years.
