Primark fans go wild as cult autumn jacket RETURNS to stores – but Gen-Zers have declared the style ‘uncool’
AS sad as it is to say, summer is almost over.
That means it’s almost time to dust off our favourite lightweight autumn jackets.
Primark shoppers shared mixed reactions over the shop’s new denim jackets[/caption] Some Gen Zers have labelled the trusty denim jacket an ‘uncool’ look[/caption]At this time every year, the denim jacket emerges from wardrobes worldwide, ready to reclaim its spot as the quintessential autumn layer.
But in 2024, Millennial shoppers fear things might be different – and it’s all down to Gen Z.
Word on the street is that Gen Z-ers have declared the trusty denim jacket as “uncool”.
The news comes after Primark shared its brand new £17 Denim Jacket that some shoppers are going crazy for.
Taking to Instagram to showcase the piece, the fast fashion label’s social media team penned that the “category is double denim”.
This was alongside a video of fashion influencer Paulina Popielewska posing in the new outerwear staple.
“This denim jacket was designed to elevate your casual looks with its sleek and modern design,” Primark bosses said.
“Boasting a cotton rich construction and refined tailoring, it’s the ideal choice for those seeking a fashion-forward twist on the traditional denim jacket.
“It boasts classic lapels, long sleeves, four pockets and metallic buttons, adding a touch of modernity and practicality to your wardrobe.
“It pairs effortlessly with leggings and a tee for an elevated casual vibe, or a coordinating denim mini skirt for a polished look.
“Let this jacket become your go-to outerwear for occasions where you want to show off your sophisticated edge.”
And while some shoppers gushed over the design and described the lightweight coat as “beautiful”, others issued a stark warning.
Rhianna Rowe, 38, said: “I love my denim jackets but at a recent concert full of gen Z-ers I was told ‘only millennials wear denim jackets now’ and they are not cool.”
While denim jackets have been a staple in fashion for decades, Gen Z have shown a tendency to move away from the classic piece.
The best selling Primark nostalgia pieces
IF it's nostalgia you're looking for, look no further than Primark.
Primark’s Miffy pyjama range left many shoppers feeling incredibly nostalgic recently.
Fashion fans claimed their ‘inner child was screaming’ when they spotted High School Musical and Hannah Montana sets on shelves.
90s fashionistas were left beaming when they spotted that leopard print maxi skirts had come back on trend.
But the new baby tees gave some shoppers ‘awful flashbacks’ to their teens.
And millennials were left divided when they spotted that ballet flats were back on shelves.
But it’s not that denim jackets have entirely disappeared from Gen Z wardrobes.
It’s more that their popularity has waned compared to other fashion trends that resonate more with this generation – such as aviator and biker jackets.
Social media plays a massive role in shaping Gen Z fashion choices, too.
Platforms like TikTok and Instagram are flooded with new trends and style inspiration every second.
This content often favours the latest ‘it’ item over classic staples like the trusty denim jacket.
