Prince Harry announces next high-profile trip – but Meghan Markle WON’T be joining him
PRINCE Harry has announced his next trip – but he won’t be joined by Meghan.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned from a four-day “faux royal” tour of Colombia earlier this month.
It followed a similar three-day trip to Nigeria in May, said to be to promote the Invictus Games.
But now Harry, 39, will embark on a solo trip to New York City, a spokesman has confirmed.
His visit will coincide with the UN General Assembly High-level week from September 23 to September 27.
The Climate Week, September 22 to September 29, will also be taking place during his visit.
Harry will take part in a number of engagements, including with African Parks, the HALO Trust and The Diana Award.
The purpose of the trip is for the duke to “advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives”, People reports.
Harry will also be promoting the work of The Archewell Foundation, the non-profit charity he co-founded with Meghan in 2020.
It will be his first visit to New York since October last year, when the charity hosted its first in-person event.
The trip comes as Harry and Meghan are said to be planning more “fake tours” to promote their own brand.
The Sussexes’ recent trip to Colomba was said to be building bridges, joining forces against cyber-bullying and promoting women’s leadership.
Royal author Ingrid Seward suggested there was an ulterior motive for the tour.
The couple were seen packing on the PDA throughout the trip, including sharing a passionate kiss during an intimate salsa session.
Ingrid also said the international trips, coming at a time when Harry is reluctant to visit the UK due to his ongoing security row, may be seen as a veiled swipe at the Royal Family.
She told The Sun: “Most of the things they went to, and the few people that they met, had really no idea why they were there.
“What I went away with was the feeling of why were they there? What were they doing?
“And the only answer one can come up with is that they were promoting their own brand.”
King Charles is said to be frustrated by his younger son’s legal dispute with the Home Office – after he lost the right to close protection when he stepped down as a working royal.
But Harry has made two international trips to Africa and South America since.
Ingrid added: “It does look as if it’s a dig at the royal family. Apparently when they were there they never met the ordinary man in the street at all. They were kept miles away from anyone.
“The security was absolutely tremendous. So unless people had been picked to meet them, nobody even saw them or didn’t even know why they were there.”
Meanwhile, Harry has also been accused of “dredging everything up again” as his explosive memoir Spare is released in paperback.
Spare’s paperback release, on October 24 in the UK, and October 22 in the US, will also hit at the exact time as His Majesty attends his first Heads of Government meeting in Samoa.
