Supermarket giant cuts prices on over 2,000 everyday essentials across 500 stores – but there’s a catch
SHOPPERS have been left stunned after a supermarket giant has slashed its prices on over 2,000 everyday essentials – there’s just one key detail you need to remember.
Many making cost-effective purchases may already be headed to Morrisons to take advantage of the brands on sale but they need to take note to be able to claim their savings.

Morrisons More Card shoppers have been given access to significantly lower prices, offering savvy shoppers the opportunity to buy thousands of best-selling and branded products at a discounted rate.
Starting in September, the bargain buys cover all corners of stores across fridge, freezer and cupboard fillers.
The loyalty scheme offers will be signposted at “shelf edge and online” offering anyone who has signed up to the membership scheme the chance to save their cash.
Customers can also make use of the Morrisons More app and email for More Card holders to stay up to date with the latest deals.
Even those not part of the loyalty card scheme could find discounted items with Morrisons also adding 70 products to its Aldi and Lidl Price Match.
After launching in February, the store hopes to reassure shoppers that they could get their hands on best-selling weekly essentials at stable prices.
Included in the Low Everyday Price products are: cupboard staples, bakery and snacks, toiletries, cleaning products and babycare.
Group Marketing Director at Morrisons Alex Rogerson said: “Today’s move represents our single biggest investment in loyalty and pricing for many years.
“Driving strong value for customers remains our number one priority and today we are getting the big bazooka out and slashing the prices on over 2,000 products for More Card customers.
“Together with our Aldi and Lidl Price Match and our vast range of Low Everyday Prices – we have thousands of products that not only offer outstanding value on brands and essential items our customers love – but also have the quality they’ve come to expect from us.”
How can I join the Morrisons loyalty card scheme?
Savvy shoppers not already part of the More Card scheme may be looking to join since the announcement from the supermarket giant.
According to the Morrisons website, the easiest way to register is via the Morrisons More page or the app.
You can even login using an existing Morrisons.com account and then agree to register.
Which other supermarkets have member prices?
Tesco’s Clubcard and Sainsbury’s Nectar rewards are well-known by many but some may be surprised to know that some supermarket giants such as Aldi do not have a loyalty scheme.
For those hoping to find the lowest in-store price when they scan at the till, here is a list of the stores offering membership schemes.
Co-Op members can gain access to exclusive prices and offers whilst also having the chance to win £500 every time they spend £5 or more in-store.
Whilst those signed up to Lidl Plus are offered discounts based on their in-app shopping habits.
This could mean customers are awarded a free bakery item when spending £50.
Even H&M has a membership offering which sees 10% of a first purchase with the scheme.
How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some that we recommend:
- Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
- Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
- Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
- CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
