Fatman Scoop’s booming voice made him an iconic part of songs like Lose Control by Missy Elliot and It’s Like That by Mariah Carey.
The rapper and radio DJ was married twice.
His first wife remains unnamed, but he also married activist and CEO Shanda Freeman.
Who is Shanda Freeman?
Shanda was born in Newburgh, N.Y. and began her career as a Case Manager and Counselor in HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention.
Not much is known about how Shanda met Fatman Scoop, but they reportedly met in 2002.
The couple were married for 13 years before they eventually divorced.
They rocketed to fame with their sex and relationships podcast Man and Wife, which debuted in 2007.
Soon, Shanda and her husband closed a deal with MTV to bring Man and Wife to TV screens across America.
They were signed for 16 episodes and candidly discussed their marriage and gave advice to other couples in 30 minute episodes.
After their divorce, Shanda became the CEO of the eyewear brand Disco Sis.

Shanda took to social media to pay tribute to her late ex-husband.
She said: “We made history. We were the FIRST. I’m heartbroken. I love you. Always.”
Shanda accompanied the post with several pictures of the beloved radio DJ.
Fans and fellow musicians also posted tributes to the late radio DJ.
Missy Elliot joined mourners by posting: “Prayers for Fatman Scoop’s family for STRENGTH during this difficult time.
“Fatman Scoop’s VOICE & energy have contributed to MANY songs that made the people feel HAPPY & want to dance for over 2 decades.
“Your IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten.”
Did Fatman Scoop have kids?
Much of Fatman Scoop and Shanda’s relationship was kept private, but it has been confirmed that they had two children together.
On occasion, he would share pictures of his son and his daughter, Tiana, on his Instagram.
His family released a statement when Fatman Scoop died saying: “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life.
“Fatman Scoop was not just a world-class performer, he was a father, brother, uncle, and a friend.
“He was laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage.”
Shanda also has another daughter, named Stephanie, whose son paid tribute to Fatman Scoop, his “gramps”, online.
