I’m the UK’s most glam gran and people love my bikini body – here’s my secret to staying youthful at 73
THE UK’s most glam gran has revealed the secrets to being Britain’s prettiest pensioner.
Suzy Monty, 73, boasts a bikini body people half her age would kill for and has been modelling for over five decades.
She makes it sound easy but it’s hard work.[/caption]She’s been married for more than 50 years and reckons there’s a few important methods to staying youthful.
Suzy said: “ Lots of country and coastal walks with my dog.
“Housework, which I actually enjoy doing, as I like a clean and tidy house.
“It’s as good as any gym workout and more productive too.
“Cook and eat healthy food. No fry ups.
“It’s true, the saying ‘that you are what you eat.’
“I’m not a couch potato. No daytime TV for me, I am too busy.”
But Suzy is also keen to stress that appearance isn’t the key to happiness.
She added: “In general, ladies are very supportive and complimentary of how I look.
“In fact one told me the other day, I should promote myself more, but I’m not interested in becoming a celeb as such.
“I prefer to keep low key and just get on with my life.
“I’ve been offered appearing on TV before and turned it down.
“Too much travel involved, as I live in beautiful Cornwall and most of the media action is in London.
“I’m not a city girl, it’s more countryside for me.
“And it doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, just how nice and kind a person is.
“I’m lucky to have inherited good genes. My parents didn’t look their age either.
“But it’s personality and being decent to others that counts.”
She also plans on remaining natural and can’t imagine getting plastic surgery.
One of the bigger problems she has with people assuming she’s had work done is that she wouldn’t have the money in the first place.
Suzy said: “I would never ever have plastic surgery because I believe what is natural should stay that way, unless there’s a medical reason of course.
“I look beyond a person’s size. One of my best friends weighs 22 stone but is an extremely lovely person. Who cares about size?
“I had mild bursitis in my thigh and had to see a young physiotherapist. He couldn’t believe my age.
“I just found it amusing when he gave me the plank exercise to go away and do. I said ‘I am 73 not 23’ and he laughed and gasped in disbelief.
“Anyway, thankfully walking cured the pain. I would say I look in my 50s. In my 50s I looked in my 20s. I’m just lucky I guess
“I certainly can’t afford any age defying magic potions or treatments.”
