Flight attendant reveals the £1.20 item she always packs on a flight – and it’s great if you hate plane food
A SAVVY flight attendant has revealed the £1.20 item she always takes with her whenever she boards a plane.
TikTok star Destanie Armstrong has shared the clever way she avoids having to eat unappetising plane food by packing her own quick and easy snack which can be made onboard almost all planes.

With viewers being left amazed at her latest suggestion on how to keep your taste buds happy even when you’re up in the air.
The 25-year-old air stewardess says she would never board a plane hungry just in case you end up fancying food during the long haul journey.
But on the rare occasion where she forgets to fuel up her body or even on extra long flights Destanie says she will always pack a handy snack.
She told her TikTok followers: “You can’t depend on these flights to have food and even if they do, a lot of the times the options aren’t food.”
The seasoned flyer said she always packs two pots of noodles in her hand luggage.
Almost all planes have hot water onboard, according to Destanie, meaning it is a great option to have.
It is even more useful if you either don’t want to pay the high price for snacks or don’t feel like eating any of the food options available.
Most noodle pots cost around £1 meaning they are a great and cheap option.
Family favourite brand Batchelors Super Noodles can be found in supermarkets for only £1 and come in a whole variety of flavours.
The iconic pot noodle is just £1.10 on shelves across the UK as well.
A King Pot Noodle is slightly more expensive at £1.35 but does provide 24g of more noodles to be enjoyed.
Destanie also warned holidaymakers to avoid adding extra salt to their food as your tastebuds can “change in the air”.
She says most in-flight food is already packed with sodium due to the differing tastes and sensations when thousands of feet up in the air.
Research in the past has found food on the plane can often taste much blander.
This is for two reasons – one being the low cabin pressure as it reduces the oxygen in your blood, making your sense of smell worse
The air on planes is also extremely dry, which can dry out your nasal passages and make your taste buds less perceptive.
This leads to passengers putting more salt on the food for flavour, and can make you even more dehydrated.
Weirdly, wearing headphones could help food taste better too.
Oxford professor Charles Spence, an expert on taste and food, said the noise of the engine can make food taste more bitter by up to 10 per cent, so headphones can block this out.
And food experts have revealed what you should never eat on the plane.
This includes pasta as it “doesn’t reheat well” while the bread rolls are so carb heavy that they can make your jet lag much worse.
Plane food has long had a reputation for being just that – plain.
It’s not always a fair impression, with some carriers offering famously excellent meals amongst the clouds.
Indeed, it was only last month that the annual rankings revealed a little-known airline as having the best food in the sky.
It comes after a frequent long-haul flyer revealed the 80p item she swears by for lengthy flights.
