I wasn’t ready for how much my hair shed post-childbirth – a tool sped up my regrowth but 3 ingredients help a lot too
A HAIRCARE specialist wasn’t prepared for how much her locks would shed after childbirth, but a few useful methods helped with regrowth.
She tried a tool that helped grow her tresses and incorporated three natural ingredients.

She has been in the hair loss space for nearly 16 years and helps others address their concerns and regrow their follicles.
Donovan has dark, medium-length, and slightly wavy hair that she credits to her Lebanese background and revealed her tips for taking care of it.
LASER LESSON
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared some of her previous issues post-childbirth and how she combated them.
“After having kids my hair shed, as expected, but I was not prepared for how MUCH it shed,” she said.
She used a specific product to “speed up the regrowth process.”
Laser caps are non-invasive devices that sit on your head and use low-level laser therapy to stimulate hair growth.
They can get pretty expensive and cost far into the thousands.
Walmart has an affordable Laser Cap for Hair Regrowth for $13.97.
In addition to a laser cap, she also uses other methods regularly.
BUDGET BUYS
When it comes to budget-friendly products, Donovan recommended specific buys.
She suggested using mild shampoos that are sulfate, paraben, and preservative-free.
The three main ingredients should be palmetto, ketoconazole, and caffeine.
HOLY GRAIL HELP
Donovan shared a holy grail procedure that she can’t live without and its advantages.

“I believe everyone can benefit from PRP for their hair growth,” she said.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, injections are gaining popularity in treating several conditions, from sports injuries to hair loss.
They noted that “the treatment uses a patient’s own blood cells to accelerate healing in a specific area.”
She admitted that she goes to the gym often and ties her tresses up and away from her face in a tight ponytail.
Many professionals warned against the hairstyle because it can cause thinning.
“PRP has saved my edges from traction or thinning,” she said.
CONTRIBUTING FACTORS
According to the expert, some common causes of thinning include genetics, hormones, and aging.
“We see many patients experiencing hair loss from too-tight hairstyles and traction,” she said.
She added that stress can also “exacerbate” or speed it up.
But if you’re looking for solutions to disguise sparse spots Donovan suggested asking your stylist when getting a cut.
“Be honest and mention it to them. They are creative magicians!” she said.
She added that there are great topical fibers on the market.
“For a more permanent solution, our patients use Scalp Camo or micro-pigmentation,” she advised.
Scalp Camo is a non-invasive treatment that uses micro-fine needles to apply color-matched pigment directly onto the scalp, according to Barber Surgeon’s Guild.
