CELEBRITY Masterchef’s John Torode slammed Strictly pro Vito Coppola for his ‘dangerous’ behaviour during tonight’s show.
Judge John, 59, sent a clear warning to Vito, 31, after he asked Jake Quickenden, 36, to taste test his grub during the latest challenge, since the pair are supposed to be competitors.
The Italian dancer had been left in a predicament after whipping together a spinach raviolo – because he doesn’t like spinach.
So, he asked X Factor alum Jake for his seal of approval instead.
But it went down like a lead balloon with John, who told cameras Vito should have been less trusting.
He fumed: “That’s dangerous. It’s a competition. He could stitch him up.”
While Jake assured Vito that his food was “delicious”, he later joked, “Sabotage. It tasted horrible!”
Vito’s raviolo consisted of a pasta made with spinach, filled with a ricotta filling with spinach, with an egg yolk in the center.
His sauce was made from spinach too, and served with guancale, a cured pork cheek.
The ballroom whizz explained in the kitchen that his hatred of spinach stems back from a childhood incident.
He said: “My mom tried all the way possible to give me the spinach.
“When she just turned around, I just went out from the balcony. I said like, ‘Out,'” he continued, mimicking a spit.
“And after two minutes, our neighbor came up with the white bed sheet, just clean, all green.
“She said, ‘You throw the spinach from the balcony. Bad boy.’ My mom really told me off. But that was the last time that she offered me spinach as a meal.”
While it may have been a risky move, Vito’s gamble paid off as he made it through to the next round while Jake was sent home.
Last week, it was Christine McGuinness who received the boot.
But the model insisted she was “relieved” upon being eliminated.
While she failed to advance to the next round, the reality star swiftly shared that she was “relieved” by the outcome.
