THE cast of an iconic reality show is set for an epic reunion – sparking rumours of a possible reboot.

Prior to his presenting career, Ben Fogle rose to fame for appearing in BBC One’s Castaway 2000.

The 50-year-old was among 36 people tasked with building a community on the Scottish island Taransay over the course of a year.

Taking to Instagram, Ben revealed the show’s cast are set to reunite, more than two decades on.

In a post to mark 25 years in broadcasting, he wrote: “If, like me, you are feeling nostalgic.

“I’m on @bbcradio4 Reunion on Sunday at 10am with my fellow Castaways to reflect on that amazing year.

“Spoiler alert. I cry…….”.

Hoping for the show’s possible return, one follower commented: “Would love to see this again.

“Wonder if it’s available anywhere. Best telly ever.”

Another wrote: “Fab programme. Wish they did it again.”

A third chimed in: “That was a great series. Hope they are going to screen it to mark the anniversary.”

A fourth remarked: “I loved Castaway! The first & very best reality show!

“Such a great concept and what an experience!”

Since his time on Castaway 2000, Ben has presented programmes for the BBC, ITV and Channel 5.

Some notable examples include Countryfile, Animal Park and Crufts.

Speaking on TALK earlier this year, Ben discussed how reality TV had become “structured and produced” since his experience as a contestant.

He said: “I think, if you go back to when I started out, Castaway was arguably the most organic, natural of the reality TV.

“It’s quite structured, and produced now.

“And that’s not to say it’s a bad thing. But it isn’t really reality TV anymore.”

He added: “I think we need to re-brand the medium, but occasionally, a really honest, authentic reality show comes along.”
