Tony Hawk teases upcoming Pro Skater game and is in talks with Activision
TONY Hawk’s Pro Skater is one of the most popular video game series in the world.
Two of the games, Pro Skater 2 and Pro Skater 3, are among the highest-rated titles of all time, with a score of 98 and 97, respectively, on review aggregate site Metacritic.
The first two games made a comeback with the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 collection, but other games in the series are left behind on older consoles.
On an episode of Last Meal on YouTube, Tony Hawk opened up about the future of the Pro Skater series, teasing that it will be making a comeback.
With the 25th anniversary of the series fast approaching, host Josh Scherer asked Hawk about what the future of the series will offer.
Hawk responded: “I wish I could tell you more but I can tell you that I’ve been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting.
“We’re working on something. That is the first time I’ve said that publicly.
“I can’t give any details. But I think it will be something the fans truly appreciate.”
Back in 2022, it was revealed that the Pro Skater 1 + 2 collection was originally set to include 3 and 4 as well, but the project was scaled back as it was too ambitious.
Pro Skater 3 + 4 was planned to be released as a separate collection, but in the same year developer Vicarious Visions was absorbed into Blizzard.
According to Hawk, Activision asked other developers to pitch a Pro Skater game, but the company wasn’t happy with anything they received.
As you can see, Hawk didn’t elaborate at all on the upcoming project with Activision, but his wording makes it seem like a completely new game.
While fans would be appreciative of seeing Pro Skater 3 make a comeback, there are other Hawk projects that showed a lot of promise but never came to be.
Tony Hawk: Ride was a game that was supposed to be controlled using your feet on a board-shaped controller.
However, this accessory didn’t work as planned, and players were disappointed by the result.
The concept for the idea was strong, and people loved the idea of an immersive skateboarding experience, but it has never been revisited.
