In his caption, Zayn expressed grief over Liam’s passing, thanking him for his support during difficult times and admiring his maturity and musical talents.
He called Liam a brother, vowing to cherish their memories and lamenting that he never got to say goodbye properly
The Bradford-native wrote: “Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can’t help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives.”
“I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life. When I was missing home as a 17 yr old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know you were my friend and that I was loved.”
“Even though you were younger than me you were always more sensible than me, you were headstrong, opinionated, and gave no f***s about telling people when they were wrong.”
“Even though we butted heads because of this a few times, I always secretly respected you for it.”
“When it came to the music Liam, you were the most qualified in every sense. I knew nothing in comparison, l was a novice child with no experience and you were already a professional.”
“I was always happy to know, no matter what happened on stage we could always rely on you to know which way to steer the ship next.
“I lost a brother when you left us and can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly.”
“I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there is no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated.”
“I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace and you know how loved you are. Love you bro.”
It follows reports he is ‘in absolute bits’ after hearing the shock news.
A US music producer currently working with Zayn told DailyMail.com how the hitmaker is surrounded by loved ones as they “don’t want him to be alone” during this difficult time.
They said: “He is in shock, and his parents have been in touch with Liam’s family to offer their support and condolences.”
The source went on to reveal the pair hadn’t spoken in “a while” due to previous disputes but “respected each other from a distance”.
“They didn’t hate each other but they couldn’t see eye to eye on different things.
“But they both felt that they had been exploited in the music industry.”
The Sun contacted Zayn’s representatives for comment at the time.
Liam and Zayn were both singers in One Direction between 2010 and 2015, when the latter quit to go solo.
Things weren’t always smooth sailing between them, with Liam’s ex-fiancee Maya Henry telling fans about a violent altercation in a recent TikTok.
During an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast in 2022, Liam revealed there was once an argument backstage that erupted into violence, with one of his former bandmates pinning him against a wall.
Since then, fans had been theorising over who out of Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn or Harry Styles it was.
Duetting a video from a Directioner, Maya finally put the mystery to bed this month, explaining: “I see this all the time, everywhere, I’ve heard this insufferable story so many times.
“He told me it was Zayn, so…”
Cops probing Liam’s death are reportedly searching for two potentially key witnesses who could be among the last people to see him alive.
Police are now looking for two women who were allegedly with Liam the night before his untimely death, Argentine outlet Infobae reports.
It is understood that both women then left the Hotel CasaSur without him after waiting for the Brit in the lobby.
The women, if identified, could help determine what happened in the hours before Liam’s tragic death.
There is no indication that the women could be involved in any way in the star’s fatal fall.
Investigators reportedly seized bottle of whiskey, a lighter, a phone and a notebook found in the pop star’s suite, according to Infobae.
Troubling images have emerged showing white powder, burnt aluminium foil and a smashed TV screen inside Liam’s hotel room.
Several photos show inside the former One Direction singer’s luxury suite at the upmarket Hotel CasaSur Palermo.
They appear to show traces of a white powder and burnt aluminium foil in the bathroom and living area.
A green lighter and a container of Dove soap is also sat on what looks like a messy table in the trashed room.
Clarin, Argentina’s biggest newspaper, first published the images alongside a report saying: “Damage and drugs in the hotel room Liam Payne was staying in in Buenos Aires.”
Cops are yet to confirm what the substances found in the room are and are due to run tests on them shortly.
It comes as:
- Liam’s cause of death was released by medics
- A heartbreaking 911 call from worried hotel staff was revealed
- Cops are reportedly set to hunt for a drug dealer
- Cheryl ‘feared the worst’ for her ex
- Liam’s girlfriend revealed why she left Argentina
- Simon Cowell cancelled BGT auditions after Liam’s death
A smashed TV can also be seen in the room next to a half-drunk champagne glass.
Clarin and several other outlets like La Nacion confirmed the photos were taken after Liam was found unresponsive outside.
