‘Gutted’ Corrie star reveals he’s been conned out of hundreds of pounds in targeted scam as fans flood him with support
CORONATION Street star revealed he was scammed out of £600 while trying to buy Oasis concert tickets.
Actor Tony Maudsley has portrayed undertaker George Shuttleworth on Coronation Street since joining the ITV soap in 2020.

He took to social media and issued a warning to fans over people on Facebook who claim to be selling tour tickets to see the British rock band perform.
Tony wrote: “Gutted. Thought I’d lucked out and got 4 OASIS tickets for my brothers birthday.
“Guy on Facebook who appeared to have mutual friends. I sent £600 to his bank. He kept messaging me saying it hadn’t cleared.
“Seems my bank were more on the ball than me and stopped the payment.”
In another post, the actor updated his followers and said: “Beware. This is a new level of scamming.
“Seems the guy he was pretending to be had had his account hacked.
“Luckily someone else that knew the real guy got in touch and warned me. Durrrr. WISE UP, MAUDSLEY!!”
He also confirmed that the bank managed to get all his money back.
Fans took to the comment section to send their support, with one suggesting to “Get the Corrie writers to write the concert into your storyline… that would be great viewing! And you’d get to go!
To which the star replied: “Hahahaha. Yes I can see George rocking away to Liam Gallagher whilst necking a bottle of Bud!”
This comes after Tony delighted fans as he was seen enjoying a Benidorm reunion.
Fans know he did a stint in the hairdressers at the Solana hotel.
He was hairdresser Kenneth Du Beke in the hit sitcom Benidorm, a role he played from 2011 to 2018.

He added: “I’m bursting with pride having watched my little sidekick shining like a star in the West End in Cabaret.
