CELEB FAVE: Love the idea of sipping the same wine as the stars?
Tignanello from Tuscany is a celebrity favourite, but at around £150 a bottle, it’s hardly budget-friendly.
Aldi’s Toscana Rosso offers a similar taste sensation for £7.69.
SHIRAZ SAVER: The Penfolds Shiraz Bin 28, known for its bold flavours and ties to the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard, is on offer at Tesco for £27 with a Clubcard, down from £31.
However, M&S’s Barossa Shiraz is a solid alternative for just £10 a bottle — perfect for any Aussie wine fan.
FRENCH FANCY: Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a staple of wine lovers, famed for its rich heritage and flavour.
Prices vary wildly, but supermarket own-brands deliver.
Asda Extra Special Châteauneuf-du-Pape is £19.75, while Morrisons The Best Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes in at £19.
MERLOT MAGIC: Bordeaux wines can be notoriously expensive, but if you fancy a good Merlot, check out Oceans Tutiac Merlot at Sainsbury’s for £10.
It’s been described as a “great, less-expensive alternative to traditional Bordeaux wines”, without compromising on taste.
RIOJA DEAL: For a Spanish twist, the Baron de Ley Gran Reserva 2017 is a festive favourite at £19.99 at Waitrose.
But Tesco’s Campaneo Old Vines Tempranillo 2022 is a steal at just £6.50 — and pairs beautifully with Spanish cheese if you’re planning a cheese and wine night with friends.
