PRAYERS for little Kyran Durnin missing and presumed murdered were said in churches all around Drogheda over Christmas.

He was mentioned in name by most priests as Gardai followed up several new leads after a flood of information from the public.

The focus now is to track the child’s movement in June, 2022 when he was six years old – the last time the police believe he was seen alive.

Detectives are going through thousands of hours of local CCTV footage to see if they can locate him with a number of suspects during that period.

A woman in her twenties at the centre of the probe still maintains she has no idea what happened to Kyran and has pointed the finger of blame at the late Anthony Maguire, another suspect who took his own life after he was questioned by Gardai.

A source said: “The timeline has now moved from May,2022 to June 2022 and during this period we believe Kyran lost his life.

“We still have no idea how he died or what happened to him.

“It may have been an accident and the cover-up is worse than the crime. We just don’t know.

“But the fact is that certain people knew this young lad was dead and deliberately kept it quiet for over two years.

“They nearly got away with it until a number of local detectives realised a child brought to meetings with Tusla was not Kyran and that the youngster had vanished off the face of the earth. We then raised it with the Child Protection Agency.”

Detectives are looking at footage obtained from local shops and street cameras near the homes of the suspects and the routes they would take to and from Drogheda town centre.

There is also information that one suspect often went walking alone late at night to a field not far from that individual’s home.

Gardai are trying to narrow down a list of sites where they think Kyran could be buried.

The insider added: “There will be more arrests and more digs in the coming weeks. We are not going to rest until we find Kyran’s body.

“The people of Drogheda are very angry about this case and want to see those responsible arrested and punished.

“We are all determined that this little lad will get a proper Christian burial.”
