Wetherspoons will serve 99p pints at 750 pubs – but you will have to act quick

0

WETHERSPOONS will slash the price of a pint to as little as 99p in the New Year.

It forms part of the budget boozer’s January sale with venues across England and Wales cutting prices on alcohol.

Wetherspoons has revealed it will cut the price of its booze come January

The event will run from Thursday, January 2 until January 16.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, the same event will run from Friday, January 3 until January 16.

It means customers have around two weeks to enjoy the discount.

A total of 750 of the pubs will be participating in the event.

It gives punters the chance to pick up a pint of Ruddles for £1.29 down from its current price of £1.79.

The average sale prices across the pubs include a pint of Worthington’s at 99p, a pint of Belhaven at £1.49 and a pint of Doom Bar at £1.49.

More than 650 of the pubs will be offering a glass of Coldwater Creek wine (250ml) for £2.49 and almost all of the pubs will be serving low and alcohol-free drinks for £1.49.

In addition, 660 of the pubs will serve Lavazza coffee, tea and hot chocolate (including refills) for £1.29, usually costing £1.59.

And the no-frills boozer is not only giving pub-goers the chance to save on drinks.

Come January, customers can also enjoy savings on food with prices starting at £2.99.

This includes a choice of any of its savoury muffins.

The sale also includes three burger meal deals.

The average price across the pubs is £6.52 when you include an alcoholic drink or £4.99 when you choose a non-alcoholic drink.

Wetherspoon founder and chairman Tim Martin said: “Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it was a perfect time to have a sale in the pubs too.”

The range of drinks and food on sale in the pubs is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes.

He added: “This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks.”

Wetherspoons regularly runs deals and sales events to give customers the chance to save.

It is always worth checking Wetherspoons’ website to see their latest deals to ensure you do not miss out.

It comes as Wetherspoons has kicked off its Boxing Day celebrations as sites have returned to normal trading hours following Christmas

Punters can arrive as early as 8am and leave as late as 1am with a full menu back up and running.

The same hours also apply for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, meaning you can enter 2025 with celebrations late into the night.

How can I save money at Wetherspoons?

PUB-GOERS love Wetherspoons for its competitive pricing and low-cost meals - but did you know there are more ways to save money?

Senior consumer reporter Olivia Marshall explains how.

Free refills – Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.

Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.

So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.

Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.

For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.

Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in

their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.

Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.

Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.

Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.

It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.

As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
