You can party like it’s 2025 and keep the supermarket spend low with some thrifty canapé recipes, so your pals will be well fed until midnight and beyond.

LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL: Home-made sausage rolls are always a hit.
Wrap cocktail sausages in pastry, brush with mustard then bake until golden.
Tip: Try sprinkling with crushed crisps or sesame seeds before you bake them.
RAISE A TOAST: Got leftover cheddar and chutney in the fridge? Spread them on to toasted baguette slices for a quick and tasty bite.
For something heartier, melt the cheese on the bread in the oven before adding a dollop of chutney or pickle on top.
These simple nibbles are just the trick to soak up the champers before the clock strikes midnight.
STICK WITH IT: Get some cocktail skewers and make the most of leftovers in the fridge.
Thread your skewers with cubes of cheese, cherry tomatoes, olives, cooked meats, grapes or roasted veg.
A drizzle of balsamic glaze will make these bites look and taste extra-special.
PIZZA PARTY: Ready-rolled puff pastry is a lifesaver for speedy snacks.
Cut it into squares and top with tomato purée and grated cheese for easy mini pizzas.
If you have a block of parmesan cheese, try grating it over some strips of pastry before twisting and baking to make tasty cheese straws.
DAMNED GOOD EGG: Devilled eggs are back in fashion — and cheap as chips to make.
Hard-boil your eggs, peel and slice them in half, then scoop the yolks into a bowl.
Mix the yolks with mayo, mustard, and a sprinkle of paprika, then pipe or spoon the mixture back into the whites.
